Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

About 1/5 of the garden roughly 25x60. It's the only spot that has dried enough for me to do the second till. I'll plant peas and radishes tonight. They will be gone by the time I need to plant the brussles sprouts there. Water is my biggest issue here

I'm kind of on the top of a hill, and with the raised beds things drain pretty well.

Here's a couple of pics of the European paper wasps I'm dealing with. One shows a side by side comparison with a yellowjacket, which looks very similar. Main differences are the paper wasps have a longer, thinner waist and are longer overall. Also, paper wasps have orange antenna tips, yellowjacket antennae are black.

I had yellowjackets too, last fall, but they were nesting in the ground in a pile of old bricks and rubble. They nailed me a few times when I got too close. Those suckers hurt!

We keep the wasp spray here seems been a few years since we have had any.
Going to be hot here again.
Froze some beef bullion I made in my tin muffin cups.
This is treat use anything tuna or meal worms all work or vegetables.
I do limit treats.

Mine get a head of cabbage every couple of weeks. And I daily give them meal worms and 3 grain organic scratch, heavier on the scratch than the meal worms. But I do buy the meal worms in 11 lb bags. Whenever we have squash or melons, they get the seeds and some of the meat that is in the rind of the melons. They get watermelon quite often in the summer. I love giving them treats. They get so excited.

We have wasp spray on hand too. We get both the yellow jackets and the paper wasps. The paper wasps bother us when we are sitting on the deck and we usually just smash them. They are slow movers.

I just read that a mixture of one or two tablespoons of Dawn dish detergent in a cup of water is effective at killing wasps (and any other insects). I might give it a try if they get too bad, though the swallows have been here again today helping out.

I've been working on the run today. I have the second front post in place and attached the front base board.
