Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Actually, I did see some moisture on my windshield driving out of town to get some chicken feed a couple hours ago. Just enough mist for me to use my wipers a few times and clean off the dust.

I'm switching my pullets to layer feed. I'm getting a whole lot of soft shell and no shell eggs.
I'm sure you give them oyster shell. Have you tried giving them egg shell?

They've had full access to oyster shell (the real crushed shell kind) since they started laying, but I haven't been giving them egg shells too. I will start doing that.

To give them an extra boost of calcium I'm adding a few of the oyster shells to some feed and making enough wet mash for them to eat in one sitting. The shells were straight out of the bag this morning. Tomorrow I'll grind them to powder before I mix the OS into the mash so they can't pick around the pieces of OS.

It's raining a little here now! Sweet! I put my newly up-potted kale and Brussels sprouts out in the rain so they could get some "real" water for a change.
