It is 10 degrees cooler where our chickens are and they are doing fine. I will think about putting ice cubes in their water tomorrow but honestly in the orchard next to the forest even that doesn’t get warm. They will get cold watermelon for a treat next two days.

It's going to be 100 today!!! That's not supposed to happen in SW Washington!!!

We are picking up a cockerel from @Smokerbill this morning. I'm kind of excited to get started with a new rooster. It will take some time. He will be on his own in the bachelor pad until the time is right to introduce him personally to the rest of the flock. He will be able to see everyone through the fence, but will be in a separate coop at night. When the girls start hanging out with him, I'll be checking how he does with them. He is young, so that might not be any time soon.

He crowed a lot this morning but not so much now. He and Pippi are sizing each other up through the fencing. Cooper is sure a pretty boy.
