Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Sounds like he's getting a good education! Are you going to hatch some of his eggs soon?
I won't hatch any myself. I just want fertilized eggs for the fall broodies. They are so disappointed when there is no chick. And I prefer they raise the chicks, which they are happy to do if they hatch them. My hens will not take in someone else's chicks. Well not even their own if I hatch them.

You need silkies. Lmao!

So, salt and pepper are 6 weeks old this week. Definitely can see that they are growing and changing. When my son bought them, they told him they were silver lace something but as you can see, they are different... what do you all think?? I still think they are pullets. Salt is bigger than Pepper, and very bossy. LOL. They have learned how to go into their coop at night on their own. They have their own coop. Still too small to mingle with the big girls. My big girls are downright mean when it comes to the peeking order. But they have mingled with the brown leghorns they are on the bottom of the peeking order and almost the same size as these little guys.

Well, my "free" water from my well became more expensive today. Pretty sure my well pump went out. I have a service call scheduled for next Tuesday, which I can survive.

I watered the garden yesterday and it's been raining constantly all day today so the garden's good. I filled up the chicken waterers with fresh water yesterday, too, and that'll last till Tuesday. And I collected around 10 gallons of rain water from the downspout of my house to use for flushing the toilet. All set!

No showers for a few days, but I guess I can handle the stink. LOL. Bad thing is it might end up costing a couple grand to replace the pump if that's the problem. Oh well, that's life.
