Yes, plenty of rain yesterday and everything needs it. But we closed the deck down yesterday morning for the winter. The table and chairs are still there with a cover over them, so if we have a few chance sunny days, we'll be out there again.. Deck plants and flowers are still out. Still have hummingbirds. Don't want to take their food away. Those plants will probably be out until the frost begins.
Meet Buckbeak! She's a Crossbeak Silkie with more than a few things going against her, but we will be letting her live her best life, no matter how long or short that might be.
She's 6 weeks old and only the size of a 1 week old chick, so she is currently living in my bathroom as my 7 and 8 week old chicks tower over her! I have 33 eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch next Saturday, so she will have tiny "buddies" as soon as that happens, but for now she is alone in a big brooder.
Her eyes are "wonky", her right eye sits higher than her left and is also noticeably larger. At the top of her head, she has a definite sift spot where her skull should dome and I do not believe she has a comb at all! She has some feathering, but she is either mostly bald with no sign of feather growth or still has baby down covering her body, her flight feathers are in though, and she loves to jump and try to fly way from me!
