I saw a bunch of mushrooms growing in my yard, so I decided to take a hike in the woods with my camera and see what I could find. There's quite a variety out there. The fungus among us!

You should check these guys out. I didn’t look to see if they had a photo database or not. Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society has a pretty good one or they used to.

Oh that’s great! We did mushroom club for a few years, it was lots of fun!

I wonder how many of those are edibles. It would be nice to know.

I really don't know. I don't like to take chances eating unfamilar mushrooms. Morels are the only type of mushroom I can positively identify as an edible.

All this talking about mushrooms got me motivated to take a walk in the woods, and I found a nice mess of golden chanterelle mushrooms! I guess morels aren't the only edible wild mushroom I can identify. Looks like I'm eating some mushrooms today!

More mushroom madness...

Just saw a mushroom cloud hovering over the top of Mt. Rainier! And can you see the face on the left side of the mountain, near the top, looking up at the cloud?

It's always so interesting to see the different sides and angles of the mountain.

I think the cloud was a sign you're supposed to look for more mushrooms

Yes it is. My view is of the southwest side of the mountain. I believe you see the northwest side.

It's mostly east from us so we see the west side. We're 30 miles from the peak as the crow flies. I measured the distance with google once
