Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So sorry you lost Clair. I actually prefer to lose a chicken the way you lost Clair, I must say. I want to think they just lay down and go to sleep. It's so hard to say good bye to the little darlings. ❤️

I have lost two leghorns this year to heart disease, or whatever caused their ascites. Not such an easy way to go.
thanks and I do agree... she was acting and eating and drinking fine the day of and night when I put them all to bed (lol shut the coops up etc ) but in the morning she was gone. Looked her over but didn't have the heart to explore her insides. she looked so peaceful rather remember her that way.

We made it home bought two flock blocks at the feed store going in.
Buy a few suet blocks at ace tomorrow for the banty.
question the flock blocks are so BIG do you just leave them out there or do put them out and take them away? I can't leave even the suet cakes out or they wont eat their feed just the cakes the girls love them some cakes :celebrate

Got another shot in the knee today, this time hyaluronic acid, aka rooster comb gel. Two more to go.

I tried switching to a different chicken feed last month. Xcel was a few bucks cheaper than the CHS payback feed I bought before. Xcel pellets are larger and the feed is lower in protein (16% protein) than the CHS pellets (17% protein).

The CHS pellets have a stronger smell of molasses and my chickens seem to prefer it, so I switched back and got a bag of the CHS feed today.

Saw a mouse running from the feeder the other day. The chickens weren't fast enough to catch it, unfortunately.
