Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey I had drowned rats in the tractor as we got back
Thunder and lightening we were at Nacho's for dinner.
Their road out front tires where lost the drain must plugged.

I had to lock up my layers before the storm because they wouldn't have gone in. Ares put the aussie to them to make them go to bed

I made a huge pot of marinara yesterday with my 40 lbs of tomatoes. It is really good, but needs to cook down more, so I put it all in the fridge and will resume the process today. Hopefully get it canned by the end of the day. I think we'll be using both canners to get the job done. Even with that it will be a couple loads each.

I'll be using the electric canner for the first time, and so far reading the instructions has been disappointing. One canning load will easily take two hours, because you have to follow the 20 minute process of warming the jars in the canner before filling them and it requires 1 1/2 hours cooling time after processing. Also it only holds 7 pints or 4 quarts. Better suited for smaller jobs than this one. Happy that I still have my big canner that will hold 7 qts at a time and is a much faster process.

Now we’re talking.

The beans I picked yesterday are cooking with a couple small onions, a couple cloves of garlic and a little piece of ham. It'll all cook for two or three hours, until the bean pods are very soft. I'll drop in some new potatoes in the last half hour of cooking.

I’m assuming those new potatoes are from your garden? Yum your cooking with your own ingredients is very inspiring!
