Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I didn't know that. I've been to Winco a couple of times and didn't care much for it overall, but I remember they had a great bulk foods section. Not sure if they still sell bulk foods after Covid.

They do bulk still.

Depending on the store, some have huge selection of herbs. Ours also carries food storage buckets and lids along with oxygen absorbers.

Mom said that the one in Kennewick she usually shops at when she's goes to the Tri-Cities has some herbs but not a lot. The one in Richland has a big selection. She likes the smoked, hot paprika and was having me buy big bags to take her until she checked the other store.

I found one more lobster mushroom a little while ago, along with a bunch of golden chanterelles.

Bird flu has infected chickens in Kitsap and Lewis counties. I'm in Lewis county, and I'm glad I don't let my chickens free range. They've been confined to their coop and two runs since spring of this year.

OLYMPIA — As migratory birds return this fall, they bring heightened risks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), which has impacted 48 flocks in Washington state since 2022. Three recent detections in Washington state highlight this threat: confirmed cases were detected in Franklin County (October 15) and Kitsap County (October 17), and a case with preliminary positive results was reported in Lewis County on October 23.

I did know they are building a Winco in Centralia.

They do still have a large bulk section. That is one thing we do buy there. Best way to get nuts and dried cranberries.

I recently bought a couple of their food grade 5 gallon buckets to store my bags of freeze dried food. Already filled them. Will have to look for a bulk source of those.

Better to order the actual Gamma lids off Amazon than use the Twister brand knock offs that Winco carries. Gamma are thicker plastic and easier to spin on and off. Amazon does get sales on the lids
