Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I want to add that if I didn't have pyrethrin on hand or available to me in a timely manner, and I needed to kill mites right away, I would buy the permethrin and use it. I keep things I might need on hand so I don't have to make the choice, but I will do what I need to do to keep my chickens healthy and happy. :)

Just the Frontline brand is safe that I know of. I dont know if there's variation on the ingredients in those. It's 1 drop for bantam. 2 for large fowl. Egg withdrawal is months. Others things are 2 weeks if they have one.

The ivermectin is cheaper. So is the pyrethrin or permethrin. All can be got on amazon

There is a difference in the ingredients,, so I am going to get 2 / 6pk of the frontline

My dogs usually get the pill every 2-3 months. They dont need it every month. I used to use the Frontline on them until it didn't work on fleas as well.

Cats get the feline Frontline. I wonder if it prevents mange. Cats hadn't had flea issues but I started using Frontline last year when they caught a few. A couple years ago, Leia got what I at first thought was a scab from scraping her face. It spread and became obvious it was mange when I really looked. I was not her favorite person for a week because I kept applying Bag Balm twice a day. It sticks better than just vaseline.

Chickens are getting the leftover pulled pork today. It has been frozen once and we are not big on eating the same thing the next day when we have leftovers. Lucky chickens! I made sure to rinse any seasoning and sauce off of it completely. Not sure that would be good for them. Quite bland now, just the meat.

Lucky chickens! I gave mine a handful of half-ripe tomatoes and a big parsley plant. There's a chunk of rib roast beef fat I need to chop up and give to them this evening to help them stay warm overnight.

Garden hoses are put away for the winter and I mulched a few herbs in the garden. The onion and shallot seeds I planted a few weeks ago haven't germinated yet. Maybe they will next spring... or not. I have more seeds if they don't.
