Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Do you hatch eggs? I have fertile eggs from Splash Orp rooster over Buff Orp hens. The chicks will be blue with possible yellow leakage.
Vibrating needle, never heard of that? Glad you seem to be feeling better though.
We don't currently have an incubator - either breathing or not. :) However, we plan to get probably one of those hovathingies in the near future. Perhaps with holiday gift $. I had barely finished the last syllable of your fertile eggs type when Spouse replied loudly WANT THEM! WANT THEM NOW! I had to remind her that we lack the important part of hatching eggs... LOL I have made note, however, and will likely annoy you when we have an incubator.

Just because you can obtain a pet does not necessarily mean you SHOULD. You have to be prepared to fully care for them and keep them protected. Accidents do happen. You have to ask yourself, "can I finacially handle one?"
This is exactly why when we have done rescue we charge $, usually around what an accident/injury would cost to treat at a reasonable vet. So in early 90s I charged around $100. We don't have a set-up currently appropriate for rescue (aside from any of our own breed) so don't do it currently, but if did right now, we'd probably charge around $175. Aside from checking references and their vet i feel like this shows that they can come up with that $ when they want to.

Still a bargain as I always correct behavior issues that may have gotten the dog dumped, get them spayed/neutered, obedience and manners train them up through a CGC. they were all microchipped, and fully vetted up.

May i just say AWESOME!!! ?
Thanks. I'm glad I didn't wait. As soon as she was dry I got these on her feet. (no clue if it's she or he. Just kinda of looks like a little girlie chick to me. I pre cut the bandaids and had them ready for her feet. Didn't want to over stress her or get her chilled. In the past if I had a chick with feet this twisted it would have been euthanized. A chicken that can't walk or roost from day one would have a cruel life. What surprises me more than her nifty little duck walk is the lack of interest the other chicks have in her boots. They were curious for a few minutes but now they just ignore them. I'm going to change them every day to check on the toes. As soon as it appears the toes look and spread normally, the boots come off.

Getting her orthopedic boots fitted.

The deformed feet and the new orthopedic boots. Two hours old and getting around just fine. :ya

What a cutie! I bet Hello Kitty feels proud. What breed is she?

On another note, I still have yet to see an egg. Also, since we've moved I have had no issues with predators, but, as I'm typing this, I hear coyotes howling down the road. Crossing my fingers that they don't find my girls.

You will have to let me know where abouts you live. I drive I-5 five nights a week to Lakewood/Fife. So anywhere between PDX and there and we should have no problems with the eggs. I only have 2 Buff Orps and currently they are laying every day to every other day. But I definitely know they are fertile(their backs show it, one is in a saddle, and I just hatched one of their eggs under a broody 2 weeks ago)

Just thinking out loud. I'm trying to avoid talking endlessly about chickens IRL and on FB. I'm becoming 'that lady'. I had a physical on Monday and the doctor asked me about my exercise habits. I really used to be very good about exercise..lifting weights 3x a week, I even started running around Green Lake....until I got chickens. I seriously haven't done a moment of formal exercise since I got the chickens. And I've been paying for a gym membership. Saying it outloud to the doctor made me realize how dumb that is.
A real Crazy Chicken Lady would take her gals for a run around Greenlake. You could get a big double jog stroller and tuck them in. In no time at all, you will become one of those "Seattle fixtures" featured in newspapers, and famous throughout the region-- like the guy who gives Spanish lessons near the pool at Greenlake. Is he still there?

Never mind, we are here for you as you complete you transition to totally, irreversibly BONKERS!
