Did I miss a post somewhere? Chickie Lady has been missing for quite some time. Did she go on a vacation or something?

I haven't been keeping up, but CL maybe busy with getting a roof on her house. She may also be working at getting the inside done enough to move in also. I do know that if she hasn't been on in awhile, I or couple of the others can give her a phone call and let her know that we miss her. lol

YIPPEE!!! Just got my first EE egg in a Month! Dear little Ginger is back in the game! She had quite the molt going there for a while. Her egg was pretty small, but that's ok, she LAYING. It's more blue this time, too.

I have done some rescue work, but so far, I have been able to place all of my rescues, and I have only had one of my Yorkie pups returned since I started breeding. I have always been willing to take any of my puppies, or rescue dogs back for any reason. I do know that at the moment, I have not got the room for any more dogs here at my house. This has been mostly due to not getting homes for this last batch of boy pups. They are driving me slowly nuts though. I can't seem to stay ahead of the marking of territory. I know of people that are more than willing to get a free Yorkie, but I can't bring myself to do that to any of my boys. A person does need to be able to pay for more than dog food. The last time we had a real emergency, the bill was just over 1000.00, and the little guy was at the vets for less than 12 hours. I don't ask that for my puppies, but still I want to make sure that the dog will get care if needed.

This past summer I tried to work with a gal that was on a fixed income, but with in less than a month she had a family crisis come up and she was going to sell the puppy that she was still paying me for. To say the least, I refunded what she had already given me, and I will no longer sell to anyone that doesn't have the cash up front. I am now thinking that by having the cash up front, it should show that a person can save for the things that really mean something to them. I do know though that there are a lot of people that can say all the right things, and yet not live up to the things that they say.

I have found that a person has to be careful when dealing with rescue, and that there are some rather odd folks that get involved with rescue. I am normally very careful with trying to deal with the breed clubs when placing a rescue. So far the breed clubs have been the easiest and most reliable people to work with.

I had a couple of weeks when I don't think any of my girls were laying. I know that some of the girls are molting, and I didn't get the light set up as early as I could have, but in the last week or so I have been getting a lot more eggs. I am now having troubles trying to figure out what to do with all of the extra eggs. I got 4 dozen eggs last week, so I might have to give the neighbors early X-mas gifts.

I think your joking on the co-worker is very funny. I have always had too mix in my smaller eggs in with the big eggs around here. I am fairly certain that some of my Sicilian Buttercups are now laying. The Sicilian's eggs look just like the Silkies, and the banty Crevecoeur's eggs, so I am still not sure who is laying, and who isn't.

I do have a feeling that the newest EE's that I got late this summer, may be laying now. I have an equal fear that none of them are laying blue eggs. I have been trying to change my flock into mostly blue egg layers, but I seem to have a rather high number of tan eggs being laid in the coop right now.

We're trying to get to just Ameraucanas and Brahmas in the laying flock. The silkies have their own pen that we will be enlarging to 10x30 apparently. DH says we're moving the piece of junk thing behind their run and getting two more fence panels to expand it. Then he says he'll build them a big silkie house so they don't have to live in a dog house, and put down some turf. He wants to make sure the silkies have plenty of room when there are chicks being raised in there.

We still need to get started on the new large coop. I have a window and screen door, and some of the wood. We need the cement blocks and pressure treated wood for the floor.

I've got DH convinced to get me the solar panel kit and a marine battery, so there will be light without an extension cord, soon. That will run light for the large fowls and silkies.

I've explained to him about the next box drawers you have on your coop. I absolutely loved those. Maybe I can eventually have something like that, at least for the silkie coop.

I have a question for you. Has Ginger had any problems with blood spots in her eggs? The reason I ask is because both of my dark chocolate egg layers seem to have issues with blood spot in their eggs. I have both a Blue, and Black Copper hens that lay dark eggs. The Blue has always had blood spots in her eggs. This maybe her last year with my flock over this issue. I really love her, but the space is very limited in my flock, so......
