I'm assuming they are getting chick feed all the time. That is all I give my chicks until they are well over a month old. They are just now getting a little variety. One of my girls laid a huge lash egg this morning, poor thing. Must've been 6 inches long.
On a brighter note, the seven chicks made it through the night with the ceramic heater to keep them warm, and all of them were hungry, thirsty, healthy and active this morning. I picked a few leaves of lettuce and bok choi for them to peck on, but they're not sure whether or not it's food yet. They know enough to eat the grit I gave them.
They have feed available 24/7, but are living with only natural light- no supplemental light, so they have to shut down and sleep all night long. That's the type of life they'd live if a mama hen was raising them, so I guess I'm making them get used to the real world. LOLI'm assuming they are getting chick feed all the time. Took the sweeter heater out yesterday, so mine just have the ceramic light too. I'm not sure they need anything at all at this point, but we are having cold nights still.
