Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Today is integration day. The pullets are living amongst the big girls now in the coop and secure run. I still haven't got the day run little-chicken-proofed. I need to put up chicken wire on the existing fence so the pullets can't slip through and get into the great outdoors.

I made a chicken wire screen door for the coop so the slider can be opened without letting the chickens out. The big girls hate it... being able to look outside but not go there.

Bigs and littles are getting along great. No fussing or pecking at all, yet anyway. The hens seem to defer to the chicks. They're all sharing the same wet feed bowl and waterers. It'll be interesting to see where they end up roosting tonight.

I checked under the coop, in the day run, and found one egg. I blocked it off so the chickens can't get underneath it anymore.

The chicks are somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks old.

My order for the 15 New Hampshire male chicks is in the works. USPS is waiting to get the package.
Praying the weather is warm and they don’t get too cold. Hypothermia this time of. No heat in flight. Have a heat lamp ready , and a heating pad. Maybe a cardboard box handy. Maybe lay a hand towel then a heating pad and another hand towel.

I got refunded for ten chicks.
