Our Chip drop has arrived for our chicken run so even more work to do this weekend. But love the chips in the run keeps the girls feet dry and clean. Since it is that time of year when its going to get wet and cold. its a lot of work but at least it is free

I could sure use another drop of woodchips. I got one a few years ago and it's all used up. There's enough in the chicken runs, but it's broken down a lot. Could use another 6 inches or so.

But I really like it in the runs. Poop quickly disappears and it smells kind of earthy/farmy in a good way.

Gardening chores done, weeding, mulching, fertilizing. I might do more later.

yeah the 1st or 2nd year we bought wood chips from Lowe's @3.99 a bag needed at least 20 bags for our run so that got expensive just for them to poop on them LOL. Then a friend told us about chip drop game changer.

Isn't it time to get our garden beds ready to plant garllc?

I planted mine October 2nd. I started prepping it right after I harvested all the garlic a couple months ago, and I finished with the fertilizing and mulching today. Now I just wait until next August and start the process again.

I'm going to plant 4 or 5 shallot bulbs and the same number of yellow onion bulbs this fall next to the garlic and grow them to save seeds from.

I always worried about the humidity being just right, but they always seem to hatch, even for us novices.

Hmmm...Grandson got married on October 2nd in San Diego. We've been a little busy around here. But we're back now and will get it going next week. I think we did it later than that last year. Can't remember now.

Ok..as always I referred to Farmers Almanac. They say zone 8 is late October or early November. Whew! Had me worried there for a minute.

I think there's still plenty of time. As long as the ground's not frozen it should be fine. How many are you planting? I set out 90 cloves in my 8'x3' garlic plot.

Well, I don't know yet. I set aside 6 heads but some are hardneck so only 6 or 7 cloves each for those. I may plant more. Definitely don't have enough this year. Also planting softnecks. The bed is 16' long. 4' wide?
