Guys are working on the barn dormer....then next week the metal goes on IF Mother nature gives us a break.

Little Man roosting on a yard ornament barn...Little man will be one of my top Silver cuckoo breeder Cocks next spring~~~




he has become quite the gorgeous cockerel...this is Little man last summer: SO CUTE !!!




Cute little bugger....almost all grown up now.

OK peeps! Egg sound off! How many eggs are you getting each day, from how many chickens? And do you use supplemental lighting?

I'm getting 6-7 a day from 12 pullets on supplemental lighting. Who's next?

Hello. For now I only have my 2 yr. old Betsy Barr Rock but what an amazing hen she turned out to be. Adapted to solo life after a vicious raccoon attack killed her house mate last fall. Began laying again December. Averages 5 out of 7 days to lay large beautiful brown eggs. No supplemental lighting but she does sleep with a reptile light to keep her comfy.

I either have four or five laying, I think four but Buffy might be laying...I'm not sure. I get two or three eggs a day with no lights.

I have 5 laying an average of 4 eggs per day(some 3, some all 5). I only supplement light for 1 hour before sunrise(mostly to give the teens in the coop a chance to get out of the big kids way). I may have a 6th layer in the next week, Amber(GSL) is 16 weeks and her comb and wattles are coming in and reddening up. She squats for me too. I know it will likely be spring before the 2 EE's start laying.

We have LOTS of BATS. BIG BATS. LOTS and LOTS of BIG BATS in there with our AMAZING CHICKENS.
