Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Chickens cause so much anxiety and sadness for me when all is said and done that I really don't know why I do it. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost chickens recently.
Hmm, I'm not sure why you do it either, if it causes you so much distress. I wouldn't do it under those circumstances. To me, they are all just "meat", or the critters that give me eggs (they are meat if they DON'T give me eggs!). I get angry if I lose one to predation or sickness, but that's it.

MY heart goes out to those who've lost a child, a parent or sibling. I just can't equate chickens with people.

OK I have been asked to try to find a rescue for an English spaniel. He is a nice dog just needs a home with fenced yard and kept away from chickens. If we don't find a home the owner will probably have him put down. Mostly because she doesn't want to deal with the dog or the neighbor (me

Try petfinder.com. Click on the Shelters & Rescue tab. You can then filter your search by going to the left side of the page and type your state or zip code in and it will give you contact info for those nearest to you.

All this puppy talk, bah! I've been looking for a good quality schipperke for several months. I wrote the breed club at the email address they provided on their site for help finding a breeder that breeds for dogs that can work and haven't heard back from them. That was back in September. We've had enough schips to know they still have their ratting instincts. They have a little herding instinct as well and the few videos I've seen of them herding it was just to cute because of their size. They can be very stubborn dogs and escape artists. It still boggles my mind that I can hold the two dogs I have in a room with the pet gate. The schips we had would just climb over them. Apparently they all know parkour.
Hahaha! Too cute!!!! The few I've known have been energizer bunnies and live almost forever!!!! Funny little creatures!

Anyone else with experience, please pipe up as well!

Did you have meat, dairy or fiber goats?
What would you do different if you started over?
We have meat goats here just outside Olympia. One is pure Boer, the other is Boer/Nubian. The little boy will be going into the freezer at the end of the month. Goat meat is simply fabulous. Himself prefers them to all the other critters regarding cost. They are very easy keepers. They have a mineral block and we feed them supplemental hay and some meat goat chow. They are terrific browsers, and they do a fine job of getting rid of brush. We trim hooves a few times a year, and they are wormed regularly. They are quite personable.

Agatha when we first got her. She's a sweetheart to work with

FYI Paintball MARKERS are not regulated. you could use paintball to deter the cat. OR put the paint balls in the freezer. a well placed shot and problem solved !! DO NOT PLAY paint ball with frozen paint !!!!!
We used rock salt in the South. It with a little bacon grease in a shotgun shell that dog will never come back. The salt stings the bacon grease makes it stick.

CR the dog doesn't sound hostile. I bet if you open the car door and called him, he would get right in. You could deposit him at some animal shelter where he might attract an owner instead of a bullet.
