Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Ron, thanks for posting that picture of the opossum.  I've seen them scurrying down the streets as I drive by, but have never seen them up close.  I've wondered what they looked like.  From a distance they look like giant rats.  Sorry about your chicken.  I'm impressed you were able to smash that thing the way you did.  Remind me never to meet you in a dark alley.  :gig

ROFLMAO!! :)

Thanks! using the portable dog kennel panel, we are able to segment off a space for the chickens in our garden spot. You can see in the pictures the dark bown dirt in contrast- that;s where the pen WAS setting until we moved it again this weekend. When we moved here, it was late summer and the pre-established garden area was full of 3 ft high weeds and grass, so no garden. This year we figured if we housed the chickens in the area over the winter, we could have them "till" up the weeds and soil. It's worked fabulously. Now we need to cover that dark soil before weeds take over again! BTW- The small chicken tractor is 4x8 feet, 4 foot tall.

If i wanted to feed my chickens flax seed, where would be a good place to buy it?

Winco? You can order whole containers from them as well. Just talk to the stocker for the bulk area. Lady at the one here showed us how to read the tags for case price which is a few cents cheaper a pound.

I add a little to the chicken's scratch. I've heard to much makes eggs taste fishy.

I just read that linseed is the same thing, and that's already in my feed. I've read overdoing it is not a good thing, so maybe I'll rethink the suplemental flaxseed
