Ok so this might sound silly. But I have a promise to keep to my lone hen. I promised this hen that if she survived the winter, I would get her a new flock to raise.

So does anyone have any barn yard bantam mix's coming available early spring? I'm only looking for three or four.

This is awesome I am either going to hatch icelandics or bantams (to be determined - probably dutch or japanese or both.) I'll message you if I end up hatching bantams!

I finally found eggs in the nest boxes again today!

My Australorp and EE (my two best layers) both laid somewhat long, pointy eggs after recovering from molt and winter days. Thank goodness, no more nasty store bought eggs!

Well I'm here kinda.....
DH and I cought a pretty harsh cold and I have been really run down (not the flu though). I havebeen keeping up with ya'll and really woud love to join both the north and south end meet ups but I would probably just end up curling up in someones lap to sleep, then ya'll would really think I was a weirdo!

I was able to get off my lazy buttooty yesterday to fix the grow out pen in the coop so that all the adult chickens can't get in anymore. It was more for selfish reasons though. Don't get e wrong, I love having chicks in the house and still have the five youngest chicks that broodies hatched (until they feather out more) in the house, but I was so tired of listening to 30 chicks that never shut up! (whoosa whoosa, breath Sarah, breath lol)
So the 25, 4wk old ordered chicks are now happier in the grow out pen, with heat lamp and 3-4 times as much room as they had in my 150 gallon fish tank/brooder. Man, I can't wait to find a new farm, move and then set up my amazing fish tank. Fish tanks are my gardens and best works of art!

Sorry, I get a bit lost in love when it comes to my fishypoos.

I can tell ya'll that I will be at the Monroe show even if I have to sell my soul.

Like I said, still looking for our new farm. Now we are also looking more south, fingers crossed we find somthing soon.

Random post for the day. Anyone else get a kick out of watching their chickens run? They crack me up! They kind of remind me of little dinosaurs, like a t-rex/valasaraptor mix (sorry, I'm sure I spelled that all wrong). But anyway, I love it!!

That's funny because I did just that. Tomatoes, they love them! I think it's hilarious that one will get a piece of something and instead of the others finding their own piece (which are everywhere) they will chase one another all over. Goofy birds.

My porch is still waiting on the wind issue to get put back together, all mah pots fell off the railings. I have to find something to plant in them, other than Styrofoam Any ideas for some low-light perennials that do well in a pot?

And they sure are little beauties! Wait. I mean... handsome little guys. Make sure ya order pullets from the corner of grab em n run. I'd let ya borrow my incubator, but it tends to make boys, so ya probably don't want it.

I'm not quite ready to hatch my own, I'm 120% sure I would drive you all crazy and you would block me from this thread!! Lol. But thank you Itsren!!

I know, now that the coop is almost buttoned up, I just want fluff butts every where!!! I get so stinkin bored at work, so all I do is look up breeds and dream about the chickie poohs.... It can't be healthy.....

here are my 3 eggs. The order of pictures is them before candling, then candled brown, cream colored, then white. Can't wait to see what I end up with for chicks. The rooster is a tiny cochin silky mix that is calico colored and has the fur on his head that is like a fro. The hens are white leg horn (an albino one with pink eyes, pink comb and white everything else), black sex link, barred rock, one unknown breed.

So, I may be just a crazy person, but I don't vaccinate and do not plan on doing so with my chickens. I am a huge fan of ACV, and can understand the need for medication. Are there others out here who choose not to vaccinate their flock? Just curious how their flocks do....

We have 20 birds and don't vaccinate. We've had them just under a year and so far so good, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Expected hatch date is Feb. 13. I got the eggs tonight from the same person who I gave my LF to. They are from a mixed flock with a gorgeous buff laced SL roo.

Are you hatching LF or Bantams? I thought you were done with LF? Are you just hatching for practice and giving the chicks back from egg owner?
