I can't either. He might be just as annoyingIf I get a roo, I'll nab one that's almost full grown, or raise some of them on my own and keep the least annoying one

Well.... I lost a hen tonight :-( as far as I can tell, she prolapsed this evening. She seemed normal up till 4pm, then i went inside to make dinner. When I went out at 7:30 to close the coop, I was missing a bird in my head count. After looking with the flashlight, I found her. She had just fallen over and died....
Just a bummer...
After reading about prolapse's i am Wondering how concerned I need to be that they might not be getting enough calcium.... The have oyster shells available in the coop.... But I have only had these guys for an out 2.5 weeks.....would adding buttermilk help supplement the calcium?
I hate feeling ignorant :-(
The one I lost was a barred rock

I'm sorry for your loss. It sucks to have them die.
Last year I was getting those soft shells at an increasing rate. Turned out to be a hen that later became eggbound and I had to put out of her misery.I have oyster shells in the coop.... Wish I knew who it belongs to :-( I figure I can eliminate 2 out of my six hens.... Guess the only thing left is to keep watch #shrug
Woohoo! Our neighbors had a junk removal company come by today and they had more room in their truck. DH is out in the backyard with them now getting rid of a bunch of crap!![]()
This must be referencing my post. Honestly, I've been quite pleased to have a daughter. Just not ready for the hormones!!!Daughters are the BEST although issues the do have! Mine was wacked from 11 to 13 then it was like somebody flipped a switch and Bingo MY BABY was BACK. Hang in there I feel your pain! Good kids come from good people she'll be great as her issues subside.
It makes A LOT of sense!!!!Thanks... Does it make sense when I say I would rather they die on purpose, than feel like it was accidental or ignorance that caused it.... Told the kiddo it was in heaven and the body was just meat and that was the way chickens were.... Like fish.....he seemed ok with that explanation.... Wanted know why we couldn't eat this one #shakinghead....
We are NOT eating this one... Lol

FYI I just checked with my VERY trusted source. There is not a known connection between Prolapse and Calcium. Also was told probably not the cause unless there was a thin broken shell involved.Well.... I lost a hen tonight :-( as far as I can tell, she prolapsed this evening.
