Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi. I can't tell for sure boys from girls. I mainly just wanted to tell you that I followed your posts from the egg hatching days until now so wanted to commend you on a job well done. They are wonderful! ~Dee~

Aw - thanks! I can't believe we're going through a hatch again. It's pretty exciting right now. This hatch was much less stressful - we knew what to expect. My only big stressor was this past Thursday when a guy from the city utilities knocked on my door and informed me they were cutting power because they were installing a new transformer on our power pole. Made my heart sink - because DH was at work and I didn't have a clue how to use the generator. Thankfully, they told me they'd cut power then next day (yesterday) and they'd come and let me know in time to kick on the generator. They were really sweet about it. Three of the people from the crew made sure I could get the generator on in time Friday morning - and one guy came to my door to make sure I had the eggs transferred to the generator before they cut the power. They were so awesome about making sure the eggs weren't killed.

Thursday evening, DH taught me how to use the generator, and the incubator only had to be unplugged and quickly plugged back in. It didn't lose temp at all. I feel much more confident with the generator, now, too.

DH is cracking me up... he's over at the bators talking to the eggs. LOL!

They actually eat them? Ooo.. that's not good. Chasing the tweety birds is one of my big girl's favorite daily activities. And here I've been laughing at their antics - thinking it was funny. I didn't have a clue chickens actually ate tweety birds. I'll have to keep a closer watch on making sure they don't catch one.

All 3 of my kids have colds. Jeanine was the only one with a cold while we were out today and she was definitely miserable, but now the boys are sick again too. Gah! I need to focus better on our diets and on hand washing to be sure it's not dampering their immune systems again. I hate winter. We never leave the house because too many people bring their sick kids to church every week! ugh.

We haven't been going to church much lately, either, because my immune system is compromised, and I can't get a flu shot because of my egg allergy. There's quite a few hundred that go to our church and I know people who are sick will go. I've been sitting on the fence whether we are going tomorrow or not. I reacted pretty badly to my allergy shots last week so I skipped them this week. I tried upping my shots to every 4-5 days after the lady who gives them told me I could finish faster, and I think that may have been a bad idea. I'm back to wearing a respirator whenever I clean the coop and whenever I'm cleaning up the garden beds. I can tell when I work outside in the yard that my tree and weed allergy is giving me some throat swelling issues.
