Quote: Do you hatch eggs? I have fertile eggs from Splash Orp rooster over Buff Orp hens. The chicks will be blue with possible yellow leakage.
Vibrating needle, never heard of that? Glad you seem to be feeling better though.Well, now I'm part zombie, I guess: broken tooth (or in fact, thin shell of tooth around a gaping hole) is gone, a big encapsulated infection is gone, and I got a bone graft so the socket will heal more quickly. And I already feel les horrible: I was so used to feeling tired and achybut I thought it was just more accrued mileage.
On the other hand, the whole dental anaesthesia thing has gotten WEIRD: I got three shots with a vibrating needle,![]()
I haven't said anything about Blossom: she's still alive, although I should probably woman up and cull her, as she's bedridden. Too many years of raising cattle, man: if it can still eat, I'll keep it alive.
Thank you. I thought I was talking to myself for a while there.Catching up again...welcome new peeps, congrats to all who have new chicks, and hope everyone is doing well.
Bazinga!!!!!!!!!! Hello chicky kitty. Two chicks hatched today. The 22nd day! Usually I lose these late chicks because of various problems. Not this time! They look good. I've named them the "Bazinga!" kids! Last to hatch had deformed toes. No worries. I cut sticky bandages to fit her little feet. Yes...One of them is a Hello Kitty bandage.
The 'Bazinga!' kids in the intensive care brooder. An old ten gallon aquarium. I sing to pipping and zipping chicks so they imprint and come to my voice after hatching.
Getting her orthopedic boots fitted.
The deformed feet and the new orthopedic boots. Two hours old and getting around just fine.![]()
Caption for that bottom pic: "You're getting our coffee pot ready, right?"
Super bummer day!!!! My plan for a quick trip into town to get free pallets was changed up by finding a poor husky pup who had been hit by a car on a 50mph highway in the rural area I live in. I rushed him to my wonderful former co-workers at the vet clinic I worked at because the owner was in school and the cousin who came out when I was trying to secure the dog couldn't drive because she had a baby and no car seat. Unfortunately it seems he had a shattered pelvis and the owner, of course, had no money to treat. These people live right next to the highway and had several dogs just running around loose![]()
Just because you can obtain a pet does not necessarily mean you SHOULD. You have to be prepared to fully care for them and keep them protected. Accidents do happen. You have to ask yourself, "can I finacially handle one?"
In this instance, there wasn't a good outlook for this poor boy even if money was no issue, but when you can't even afford the bare necessities to relieve his suffering, it is time to evaluate if you should have stewardship over another life. My heart does go out to the owner because I know it is a painful situation and I understand financial hardships, as I'm living thru one. I just hope they restrain themselves from "replacing" him.
To top off my bad day, the furniture store was OUT of pallets by the time I got there!Oh well, I think it may have been meant to be that I left the house at that moment. At least he got some major good drugs at the clinic until his suffering was ended. Who knows how long he would've had to wait.![]()
Out of curiosity, what's her eye color?
