Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Maybe you could sort of casually "lean" on it and it would start falling in the direction of its owners rather than toward your birds. Seems like if it's causing a danger the local authorities might have an opinion about its removal. It could just as easily fall on a child.

LOL! If I leaned on it, it WOULD go down! Hmmmm.

OK I am going to talk very serious about something. I hope that EVERYBODY will PLEASE read this even if you don't like my posts.
I am sharing this information in hopes that it may help someone. It is not intended for any other purpose.

Thanks for sharing Rob. I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

Please make sure you reach out to people if things get bad!

This is very true. My husband's side of the family had to deal with a suicide last year because a family member was modifying her anti-depressant doses without being under a doctor's care. It was a very sad situation. Medications can have scary side effects.

Okay, on to more cheerful things -- Rodents!

I spoke too soon a couple of weeks ago when I said we don't have a problem with rodents getting to the feeder. Wrong! Last week DH found a tunnel under the new dust bath I put in the corner of the girls' pen, with several pieces of layer feed. So we put out a rat trap and 3 days ago got a nasty big rat! Yuk! Since we have woods around us we were pretty sure there would be more, so we set it out again. As of this morning we've reduced the rodent population by three. But only the first one was a rat. The other two are either mice or baby rats, but either way I was surprised. But no more... we're on high alert now.

OMG! Did you really have to bring THAT subject up?

I found a dead rat on my patio last week. Good thing I saw it before my girls did! So, that's 2 that we've caught so far.

My girls are such sloppy eaters - and the "teenagers" have to be fed in the chicken tractor to keep the big girls from eating medicated feed. The rodent population has been adding to my holiday stress BIG TIME!

I've had depression issues. That's a nasty roller coaster.

I do, too - in the winter. Like now. I try to pretend it's sunny outside - doesn't quite work. Holding baby chicks helps, though.

It's so predictable with me, though. Come January - it begins to wear off, and I usually have a completely new outlook on life again.

I've been keeping eggs loose in a plastic box in the fridge- I have to reorganize everything to be able to stack cartons again- but the box was full when I wnt to put an egg in this morning, so I moved everything to cartons: eleven eggs in eight days! After no eggs for six weeks, that's grand!

Awesome!

I totally agree with you! I got my cat from a shelter and he and I are so bonded that my husband and kids are always laughing at me! I can't explain it, but it's been that way since he chose me at the shelter.

TerrorBird- Such a cute puppy! Glad you guys found each other!
x2!
And Kim, I totally get it about the cat. The best animals I've had were the ones that picked me.

So DD is wondering if the chicks are going to get to see Santa.

I asked her if she hoped they would chirp and wake her up so she could see Santa, too. She said "Oh, no!"
