Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey there Washingtonians! I am new to this thread but I've been lurking for a long time. :) I am wondering if anyone in Washington/oregon has Swedish Flower hens? I would love to hatch a few of these beauties in the spring and was hoping to get local eggs so I don't have to ship them. I am in the snohomish area but I am willing to drive. I was hoping to find lots of hatching eggs at the WFF show in March but I thought I should start lining up my rare breeds beforehand.

I'm also looking for Faverolles.

Please let me know if you have either of these breeds.
thank you!!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!! I hope everyone had very happy holidays with loved ones, safe travels and lots of time filled with love and laughter!

Its been a long time since I was here and lots has gone on. I'm so sorry to hear of all the losses and sick birds.

Jess, your family is gorgeous!! Looks like you had a great Christmas!

We had a great Christmas as well. It was our first Christmas at home with just the 4 of us. My parents couldn't come this year (they live in Colorado) and the in-laws went to California. I wasn't sure what I would think of this new Christmas but it was nice, I do miss the family though.
Our DD turned 9 on the 30th she says she "feels older" already. Lol... so do I.
We got 4 new girls (2 BR and 2 WLH) about 2 weeks ago and they have settled in well with the rest of the group, I think one of them has even laid a few eggs for us. We are thinking about getting a business license, (we have been selling our eggs for awhile now) the tax write offs would be nice.
Anyway, hope all are having a great holiday season!!

Check into getting registered as a "farm". You don't need a business license (because you have that farm thingie) You get similar tax write offs, as well as being able to purchase wholesale. I think it would be worth checking into.

Good luck,

Dave

Also to Trav- I am sorry your girl was also attacked and hope she gets back to being healthy soon.

Hope everyone had a great New Years last night. This year was the first in 5 years that we have stayed up at all let alone all the way until 12am for the ball drop. Well we did not see the ball drop, we let the kids stay up and watch movies until the ball dropped so they could see that. But DH, BIL, his DW and I all went out into what was DH's office (a few months ago when he owned his own company) cranked up the heater, had a FEW drinks (we never drink) and played the funnest, gut bustingly funny ADULT ONLY card game. It was so fun we played for 5 1/2 hours! I can't wait to play that again. We all had so much fun.

Was it Cards Against Humanity?

YES YES YES! Best game Ever.

I think she is going to breed them but think they are too young right now. she is in Woodinville

Hey friends! How is everyone? I'm feeling a little better so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. DH just got off work this morning and is heading up to Snohomish to nab us a new (to us) table and chairs, and then we'll buy a bench for one side of it in a couple weeks. I'm excited. We found the exact table and chairs we've been wanting on CL for 1/3 the price! Worth a drive to go get it and save that money, woot!

I discovered something that's quite a life saver for me...I put the water in the coop last night and this morning when I went to check it out, it wasn't frozen! 4 mornings in a row it had frozen in the chicken run and I had to take it in the house to thaw it out and bring them new water. Though...they DID love that I brought them lukewarm water when it was only 28 degrees outside. Must have been a nice way to warm up on those mornings. But now I don't have to freeze my tail off at 7am from checking their water!

Oh no! I'm so sorry.  Truly. :(  What did the something get into? Dig in? Chew in?

We're not exactly sure, but we're pretty sure it was a rat. There's a small hole in the coop big enough for one to fit through that we've been meaning to patch up. It tried to take the girls with them but couldn't fit them through the hole.
