Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well this dog was basically "thrown away" by neighbors son because dog is not good enough as a hunter. So good old mom takes the dog but does NOTHING to keep it home. Yes I know the dog is kind of doing what bird dogs do. I am just at my limit as I have told owner he had been here before. I will GUARANTEE you ALL that IF this dog gets Fudge. I will walk right over and shoot the dog on the owners porch !!!! Yes cold I know !! But they have been warned and that is what fudge means to me. And IF anything were to get Fudge (especially a dog that I had warned the owner) that would mean I have totally let Jeanine down !!!

Aaaagh. I'm going to try and stay away from the soap box. But... I can't stand it when people take on animals and they don't take responsibility for them. Good old mom sounds like she needs a lesson in animal husbandry.

Sadly, it's not the dog's fault, it's the owner's. And, we can't really shoot the owner. Me, I'd use the paintball option, on the OWNER, and let them know why.

Oooh. That thing looks scary, too.

I know I'm going to have to do something. Latte is now sporting a bloody beak because she flew out of my arms and landed on the gravel on her face. That chick can wriggle out of anything. I can't catch her - again - to see how bad the beak is. I'm watching her at the window. I'm going to let her and Blackie explore for a while and make another attempt in a bit. The big girls are staying in their run until I can catch her.

The big girls clearly don't like Blackie. If I put Blackie in the closed off section of the coop and Latte in the coop with the big girls... how do you guys think that would work?

So Latte is letting me look at her through the sliding glass door. It looks like she has an cut on her comb. Poor girl, but I'm glad it is not as bad as the blood looked when it first happened.

I'd do that if it were my Pudge, or any of my girls, really. But my four favorites especially.

I don't even know why I'm doing the whole chicken thing when they're being kept as pets. I love them dearly, more than the dogs and cats, but they have a short life span. It ruins me when I lose them. Muffet and crew will be especially ruinous. I keep putting myself in that situation, though. I won't let them out of the pen until I've surveyed the property, and they're only allowed out while I can be out watching them or doing outside work that lets me keep an eye on them. They scream hateful things at me and peck me very hard when they believe they've been robbed of out-time, but I care for them too much to let them roam without me. Chickens cause so much anxiety and sadness for me when all is said and done that I really don't know why I do it. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost chickens recently.
