Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm not violating any rules by previously putting chicken droppings in the yard waste or trash. But then again we're not in Seattle, we're in Covington.

I can't wait to get started with my first section of garden! Will it really break down 1/2" of paper and all the droppings before I need to plant late May or June?

the paper doesn't need to break down--you can just cut holes in the paper to plant. Are you planning to put the droppings under or on top of the paper? (I don't remember what the other people said, but I would put the droppings below the paper/cardboard so that the worms can mix it in.)

When is it? Dh would love to go. We have some extra cashola and it's burnin' a hole in our gun safe.

Well I was told to lay it on top to hold the paper down. Could I do something like toss all the poo in the garden on top of the cut weeds, rototil, lay down with paper and water it, then plant through the paper in 3-4 months? Also, if I put the chicken poo in there now, will it burn my plants in a few months or is that long enough for it to break down.

The gun show is this weekend. It starts @ 8am, but we will be there at 6:30. Because of everything going on in our country, people are buying everything up. What time are you going?

I don't know if we can go to the show then, DH works today and tomorrow (read: 48 hour shift) and gets off Sunday morning. then we have church from 8:30-1. I highly doubt there'd be anything left we wanted by the time we could get there Sunday afternoon. Bummer!

When do you all start your roto-tilling for this year's garden?

I'm thinking of tilling as soon as the ground thaws out again. It hasn't been pouring so I shouldn't sink up to my hips in it. I want to get the peas in as early as possible this year.
