Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK here's the garden way out there; it's square:

Oh! And here's some fun chicken stuff I got when we went away for one night to the Salish Lodge on Tuesday. These were in the gift shop! Adorable flour sack towel for the kitchen and 4 coasters:

Jess, why do you put it in the trash? (here it would be illegal, but it's also a big waste of landfill space and fertilizer! If you don't want it, I'm sure you could easily find a gardener to take it off your hands. We pay a ton for trash removal, I would hate to pay to have all of that hauled off with the trash)

I have no inclination to compost it so I use the green waste trash bin. I just don't have time! My kids are the priority and I don't have the know-how or time to get the garden started, so we can't use it anyway. Question though...could I put all that poop and shavings in one corner of the garden and just spread it out? I currently have a completely wasted space of a 20'x20' raised bed surrounded by stone and all it grows are wildflowers and weeds. I don't WANT to compost, simply don't care. I know those are blasphemous words around these parts and maybe if I had more strength or help to get my yard/garden sorted out I'd want it, but I do need to get rid of it. We're even thinking of torching all the weeds in the garden so they don't grow up again in the spring. It's just a mess. I'll take a pic and post it.
Yes, you can. It will compost in place. It is called sheet composting. Someday, when your kids are older, you will have a great place to plant.

In the City of Seattle, animal droppings are not allowed in green waste. They have to be double bagged and put in the trash.

Quote: Thanks! I think I'll start putting it all out (I can at least spread it around a bit with a rake too, I'm not that lazy) in the back corner and see how far I get. I'm sure the girls will spread it out too. What I worry about it that it'll just be a fantastic place for even more weeds to thrive!

You could contact your local Extension office and offer up the poo to Master Gardeners in your area. You might find someone who would love to take that wonderful fertilizer off your hands. HTH

If you spread chicken poop thick over your garden and do not water it this summer the weeds will die. The chicken poop when dry will kill anything.
also if you offer up free chicken fertilizer people will often come and clean your coop for you

Let's see if this works....

Yay, it works!

I wish I could have a rooster. but they aren't allowed here. Although I have a hen that crows so not sure how that would be any different. And yes it is for sure a hen, She went broody last month and hatched out one chick for me from ordered eggs, she lays eggs, but she crows when ****** off.

Does anyone fairly close to me (I live between Monroe and Woodinville) have any extra Eprinex kicking around? It's time for me to treat my girls and I don't need very much, so I was wondering if anyone has too much and would be willing to sell me some of their excess. It's too bad that it only comes in cattle-sized amounts. I just thought I'd ask before buying a whole bottle.

You can have some of mine. I just got a new bottle. If you have something to put it in, you are more than welcome to it.
I have lots too, if ya need some. Kim is probably a little closer to you if your between Monroe and woodinville. But she might be gone this weekend. PM me if ya need some!
