Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The Costco here had coconut oil the last time we were there. I still have some or I'd have bought it. I can't remember the price right now. It was a good sized tub.
My MiL got some there and I think it was also a good price. I don't have a membership right now, though. Also, I like that it is delivered to my door and there is no shipping if you spend $25 on Vitacost brand items!

Someone mentioned lack of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is very common on the west side of the state. I had my Vitamin D level tested a few years ago and I was very low. I felt tired and run down all the time. Once my vitamin D level got in the low normal, I felt much better. I work in a clinic with neurologists. The senior neurologist told me that almost every person he sees has a vitamin D deficiency.

FYI- WA state soil is also devoid of selenium, which helps stabilize mood. I used to have the USDA map showing that (someplace in my files....) If you go to google and type in this exact phrase- you can get lots of verification "selenium deficient soil washington"

I've spent plenty of time in medical conferences with Naturopaths, CAM docs, neuros, etc- most have reccommend supplementing selenium, and many reccommend the natural form of lithium- lithium orotate for SAD. (lithium orotate is not the kind that needs to be monitored by frequent bloodwork). Here's a couple articles about lithium orotate, FYI:

My ARNP said every single person she tested - over 400 at that time, was deficient in vitamin D. (me included!).

We stockpile coconut oil. It's super healthy and good for you, and a great energy boost any time of day! I think I have about 5 gallons right now. We go through about half a gallon a month of it with all sorts of uses!

I need to look more into niacin. I've heard about it, I think in Forks over Knives, and was intrigued, but never started taking any.

I'm also going to switch to fermented cod liver oil when my current fish oil runs out, but I have a lot. I usually buy in bulk to get better prices.

DH made me quit the fermented cod liver oil. It made me smell. :/

I tried it for three months.

Heck, I'm in Costco once a week at least, I'd buy it for ya if you want ;)
Haha, then you can catapult it over the mountains!!!!!

I believe that is the doc I saw it on too! I did look it up and learned that the "flush-free" kind doesn't work as well and it seems may cause some problems with prolonged use.
