Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey there,

I am so new, I think I might have messed up and posted this in the wrong place- trying t post for WA state peeps here in Western WA.....

I just saw an ad for Patriot Farm and Bison, local grower producing "natural" feed (no roundup-ready seed). They are from Winthrop but have "drop sites" in Olympia, Pacific, and soon to be Puyallup. I was intrigued because they have a no soy, no corn blend. The price seems very reasonable. They are on FB . I ordered 2 bags of the oat-barley-canola blend (no corn, no soy!) to pick up on Saturday or soon after from Pacific, and am excited to try it out.

Has anyone used their feed? If so, any FEEDback? http://www.patriotfarmandbison.com/FEED.php

(p.s. I've also asked my local family owner feed store- Iron Horse Hay and Feed to consider carrying it.)

So the incu temp mostly affects boy/girl ratio through chick motality, not by determining the gender of each individual chick?

Yep. With the temp at 99.5 i use to get 99-100% hatch rate. With 101 i use to get 60% hatch rate at best. That isn't counting the past year. Because I use to have an incubator that worked great, But when I moved my brother saw i left it behind and threw it in the garbage. No joke a $300 incubator with nothing wrong with it and he threw it away. I did not mean to leave it behind either.
I currently have an incubator that i got for $100 and have been having issues with it not holding temp very well. :(

OK for FIRDAY south meet if peeps want to PM me their cell #. I will be able to text ya to better direct to where they have seated us. Just in case we get one of the back meeting rooms.

Looking forward to seeing ya all.

There are folks here who have used feed from Patriot Farm -- enough that I know that guys first name is Scott - and I don't even live on that side of the hills! They seem to have a good reputation.

Last minute meet-up!

A couple of us (well, RonB, dawng and HoneysuckleHills to be precise) are meeting at the Woodinville Panera's for dinner tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 6:00.
Anyone else interested in joining us?
(dd)Katie, (dh)Steve and I will be there, and I invited RainWolf and her mother. We might not be there right at 6 depending on dh's bus. DS won't be there, he is playing MTG.

Yeah Carolyn I'm totally jealous! Both meetups this week won't work for me with DHs schedule and the kids' extra stuff this week. Bummed!! I think we need a meetup near me!

New to BYC today but had to post recently moved into our home in Graham WA and in the process of getting our 1st coop built. Wanting to start with five any recommendations for what breeds work best.
Late response....

Wyandottes and Plymouth Rocks and Easter Eggers are all great breeds. Orpingtons are sweet as cherry pie, but can be a bit broody, which might be frustrating for first timers.
