Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well DH is home today (but working some) so we're all getting in the car to run errands soon. Going to home depot to get something to keep the water out of the nest boxes and I'm really hoping he'll take the time and help me close the gaps of the lid. So much to do, so little time...

I got bit by the broody fairy and can't wait for the chicken math to happen. Indeed, my first broody is a Buff Orp and she's only 9 months old.
My Buff Orp is around the same age, *just* started laying a week ago, I think she's laid 4 eggs. She's the closest to acting broody hen I've ever had. She loves to sit in the nest now, but doesn't stay once I take the eggs. She used to be really standoffish and not at all cuddly, but now she squats as soon as she sees me. It's hilarious. I could be 15 feet away from her. She squats, taps her little feet and moves side to side.

Do you want a BCM boy? I have 3 or 4 of them! Not exactly sure how many. The boys will be sold. The one that I thought was a girl because of the small comb is growing copper feathers on the neck. Don't know if that's a bad sign or not.

Sorry, I live in Tacoma city limits...no roosters allowed :(

I'm wondering if Klondike is not a Bantam like I was told... I'm thing maybe a LF? I have no clue, but his legs are still really long. If he is a LF, he is going to have to find a new home. Here are some pics:

Now for his feathering... Any help with this color would be appreciated.

I'll hazard a guess.....golden pencilled? I really have little experience with this. I will jump right out of my socks if I'm right.

Bantams still come in all different sizes--our bantam ee's were quite a bit larger than our bantam Wyandottes which were bigger than our d'anvers, and all our Silver Pencilled Rocks were so tiny and frail...... I lost all 3 on the first day for several reasons, but they were as tiny as a cotton ball. I think you have a bantam there, despite his size...he's not that big. We had one standard cochin in with our bantie flock, and she was a behemoth compared to the rest, not just a little bigger.

Wow I can't believe she didn't start laying for so long! Mine was laying at 20 weeks old (hatched Mar 28 and laying by August) and only missed a day about every 2 weeks. She is a fantastic layer and I can't wait for her to go back to laying after she raises the chicks.

The Black Coppers are coming, The Black Coppers are coming, The Black Coppers are HERE!!!
Call me if you would like to get your start on these guys.

BCM chicks - can you tell me... if a 6-week-old BCM chick has a copper head and neck, is he, for certain, a boy?  And, if they don't have a copper head and neck by 6 weeks, are they girls?

Chicken math, chicken math, chicken math!! Dang it! I really want some BCM's!! The idea of having some gorgeous dark brown eggs has me all giddy!! Who's close to Castle Rock that can make this happen sometime in the next few months?

Here are my girls.... The buttercup in front, the buff orp in back, and then two Delia's and two barred rocks.... They are all 6-8 months

Aww, they are cute!!!
