Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

A great meet up. It was nice to meet all who came in person and I'm sorry that some of you missed it. Perhaps next time!
Wow did we yak and yuk it up. I had a great time. Then we went up to CR spread and got the "tour". He's got quite a spread.

When we came out of Spiffy's, it was blue skies and sunshine with fluffy white clouds, a glorious day in the Great Northwest.
Did I tell you about their Club Sandwhich?. Wow this is a blast from the past. This is no wimpy, skinny sandwhich. This is the real McCoy. It's huge, humongous even. AND VERY good. More then a meal, but I toughed it out and ate the whole thing. (burp)
T'was a really, really good day.
Thanks to everyone who came.
Sounds like a good time! Wish I could have made it hopefully next time. I'd like to get a chance to meet all you guys and gals. Have a great weekend everybody!!!

Tacoma Farms, I only do one 5lb bag of medicated feed for my new hatched chicks. After that they go on Flock Raiser feed and if they are strong enough to survive then great, I don't allow weak birds in my flock. I have only lost one chick so far to health issues. Lost a couple to hawks, but have since prevented that from happening again(no unsupervised free ranging)

You might have some luck if you ask around on FB. There is a Western Washington Rooster Exchange page that may or may not be helpful, and you can join the BYC peeps there and reach more people who might be able to keep roosters. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip.... I'll give that a try!

I'm going to Monroe today to get rid of a couple of extra roosters. I have a couple of people interested in a couple more. They just have to arrange to come get them. I hope they do it soon.

Ok. My chicks seem to be very strong and healthy, I had a bout of coccidiosis that I nipped in the bud really quickly. I think the birds I was gifted or the one that moved in had it. I treated my whole flock including my chicks and haven't had any issues since.

I'm hoping the hawk that was hatched in the tree behind my house doesn't come back this year. My tractor coop has wire all around. I'll probably have to put it around my fixed run once I build it too. I was hoping to use chicken wire, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Hawks are horrible. From september last year on I've had a hawk problem. In september I nearly had a heart attack. I was watching my chickens free range when hawk grabbed one. My dog grabbed the hawk before it could fly off with my chicken. My chicken was unharmed, the hawk flew to a nearby tree after my dog let go. My chickens still don't watch the sky for any danger, but my dogs have kept an eye on the sky after that. :)
