So much for nap time. Dang it. Remembered I had a chuck roast to put on and a couple of dishes, etc to catch up on. No, not ketchup, catch up. ;-)
Then I saw that my lima beans were through soaking from late, late last night so I got them ready for some soup with smoked ham hocks.Ohhh boy, gonna hog out tonight unless of course I fall asleep during dinner.![]()

Sorry this isn't quoted correctly - I had to copy and paste. The post was so long I couldn't get the quote to work...
Quote:Amprolium is in medicated feed, so you don't want to give both, it will cause an overdose. Yes, calcium is in layer feedYou gave me chuckle - because I AM allergic to eggs. The list is long - very, very depressingly long.
From what I've heard, if you are giving Amprolium, do not use medicated feed. Hopefully the experts will chime in and explain this better.
Also - from what I understand, chicks can get ill if they have too much calcium, so if they are young chicks, you may want to remove the oyster shells. I know I didn't put oyster shells in until they started laying, and I switched to Layer feed at 18 weeks (which, I think, is supposed to have calcium in it - not sure though). Again - experts... explanations please! We've had great luck with good, thick shells, so I thing our girls are getting enough calcium. DH cooks all the eggs for the fam so I don't have to wistfully wish I could eat them, and he has commented how much thicker our egg's shells are than store bought.
Me too. Worked for 5hrs on the LF pallet coop. Got about 1/3 done.tired. whew. Getting the chicken run ready for a hard cover (yeah!) Went to HD and got the lumber and stuff. Prices have gone up.
Stopped by Del's in Centraila and picked up 2 bags of wood shavings and a large bag of sweet cdz. (did I say that right?) too tired to go look at the receipt.
Got the run treated and the rosebud spread, no stink! yeah!
If the weather holds for tomorrow I will try to finish, but I don't know, and if the weather sours, I guess I'll watch the SB.
I figure my eggs are costing me about $2.00 ea. LOL (of course I'm counting the cost of building the coop and all else I have spent on my girls)
nap time!!!
Maui is way better IMO than Oahu. Oahu is too much like PDX or Seattle. Big city life, lots of homeless, crowded, rush hour traffic. Maui, everything is laid back and mellow. People are WAY nicer on Maui.Looking at all those pictures from TurtleTrav made me decide to look through mine, from when DH and I went to Maui in 2011 to get married. That is when we decided that is the place we are going to retire to. It took me a while to look through them as I have an addiction with taking pics and I took over 3,000 pictures while we were there for 5 days. Not counting the wedding pictures. Man, what I wouldn't do to go back there now.
I don't EVERY go to those kind of places. WAY too much going on all at once.Well holy crap. They need to rename the Tukwila Family Fun Center to "Crazy-Kids Parent-Torture Center". It.was.awful. Maybe it's me. I hate crowded, loud places. Can NOT stand them. Plus spending $50 to be tortured for several hours added more fuel to the "we'll-never-go-back" fire. I need a glass of wine!!!
I got 5 eggs today. And one of my BO's may be broody. She was on the nest since 11am. Still on it when I closed them in. Gonna let her stay and take her off tomorrow to see if she is going to commit. Not ready for a broody yet, but I will give her eggs to hatch if she commits.2 eggs today. Boo. I thought I'd get to come home to a great nest box filled with pretty colorful eggs to cheer me up. 2![]()
