Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Does anybody know:

1. How much the March 16th Feather Fanciers show in Monroe is going to cost?

and

2. Is there anything happening in the Chehalis area show-wise in the nearish future?

My girls want to see a show.
There is NO Cost to attend the show. Unless a parking fee I don't remember that but think it was free too. There is the PNPA Spring show in Vancouver. 3rd Weekend of April. That is all I know of.

I like the flow of your coops. Are you going to extend your fencing under the new coop? Do your side doors allow you to sweep and dump your bedding out into a wheel barrow? Is the tarped area an open area with cover for inclement weather? What kind of watering system are you using? I've just been using the standard waterers and am really tired of the icky water. We have a duck and he likes to clean his bill in it. I would like to find a system that keeps the water clean and keeps them in water for more than a day or so.

I am wanting to set up a system where I can have several pens off of central coops. I like what I see of your set up.

OK! I did see these and actually looked at them for quite awhile getting a few ideas for a new coop (seperate) if I decide to breed Eng Orps.
This is where I need an embarrassed face to post.
Yes indeed, nice job.
I've got a couple of spare black and one blue Eng. Orp Roos if your interested,

i am just guessing here. But I think it is because when they go into the fridge sometimes the eggs get moisture on them (because of going from being warm to cold). Now with brown eggs, they are actually white shelled eggs and when they are being laid as the bloom is being put on the brown color is also added. So when the eggs get wet and are touching the carton, possibly the color is coming off. If you boil brown eggs with salt or viniger and then wipe the eggs off they are white.

Thanks.... That sorta makes sense... So if I left out of the fridge till they cool naturally, then put in, maybe the color wouldn't change...?? I wil have to see

Since I am worming everyone we aren't eating the eggs, but I am keeping them safe till trash day, for a couple of reasons.....

A) don't want wine to break and smell as trash is every other week

B) marking each egg with date(thanks cr for the idea) to get a kind of handle on how many eggs/color/size that I am getting.

With the supplemental light going on at 5am(no artificial light at night) I am getting 18eggs/week and rising, from my 6 pullers. I started with an average of 1.5day and have risen to 2-3/day :-) hopefully will end up with about 2doz a week :-)

My Sicilian Buttercup, who was supposed to be the worst layer in the group is reliably laying an egg every other day :-D

Quote: We'll touch base again in February. I got mine from twigs I picked up off the ground at Greenlake.
It's February. Pm me if still interested. We'll set up a time.
I have been told that the large bush/small tree growing on the old dump pile by the pond here is gold stemmed willow. The stems are a very pretty yellow.

Thankyou so very much for remembering. I don't need them with a twig donator here.

Planting info would be great, though. Do I just cut off a few feet of branch and put it in a hole poked in the ground? Should it be a young branch or older.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Just make sure your branch has the terminal bud at the tip of the branch. That's where auxin (rooting hormone) is produced. Young is probably better.

Thanks! Free is good......
DAGGUM IT, YOU ALL MISSED OUR SOUTHERN MEET UP, it was great.
I'm here in Rochester (affectionately known as ROCKchester) along with Sarakatie. Whoot, that's 3 of us in shoutin' distance and Chicken Rustler is just down the road a piece.
