Spent the day in the back yard redoing the chicken run. Tomorrow should see a roofed over run. Yay!!

justrob97 (Robert Jenkins) came down to the house today with his lovely daughter. He graciously transported the Black ENGLISH ORPINGTON I've been wanting. A great looking bird. Just a juvenile yet but I'm betting that he grows into a fine Roo to match with my E. Orpingtons.
He absolutely glimmers with green in the bright light.

A note: I watched a movie; The Sunset Limited. This movie is set in the ghetto of NY, but it never moves out of the kitchen and there are just two characters played by Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel Jackson.
If you get a chance to watch it, do so, but make sure you have the time with out interruption. It is a dialog between the two men. It is not a show for children, there are no bad words (just one) and no sexuality what so ever, but a child would not understand the back and forth dialog.

It was nice to get out and meet Mike and to put a person/face to the posts. Mikayla and I had a great visit with you the girls and that cool blue Roo. I haven't seen Sunset Limited yet but it has to be great with two of the best actors of all time in it (my opinion). I'll have to check it out.

BYC posters usually say to put wax over the crack, as long as it's just hairline that should be fine.

Wish I had seen this before I chucked a couple of eggs with hairline cracks. Good to know for the future.

Alright well I just got back from outside. Pulled all 4 chicks out from under Lucy so they'd eat and drink. Everyone ate, nobody got a drink even though the water is right there in front of their faces. Guess they're not thirsty? Lucy chats up a storm when they're out from under her and this time I walked away while they were still out. When I went back, they had each gotten themselves back under her, so I guess it's working! She did peck one pretty hard one time but she's really not hurting them or going after them. I'm going to wait 2 hours this time to go check on them.

They do peck their chicks sometimes. I see it as the same as when a human swats their childs butt for being a brat.

I do fingernail polish over cracked eggs as long as it's not leaking anything it seems to work great. The finger nail polish doesn't have to be hot. Wax i worry about heating the chick inside because it's so hot. Finger nail polish is room temp and dries quickly.

That would be too bad. I don't know about everyone else, but I try to read most, and may not take the time to stop and type. Or I may be trying to do reading catch-up. I don't always have anything to add to the conversation and I know this thread runs fast enough.

Looks like I may be looking for a home for some chicks in a few weeks...
