Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

There is natural arsenic, found in apricot seeds, and there is mad-made arsenic, made in a chemisrty lab. There is a group of people in Europ who have been eating apricot seeds and they have been living 120+ years. Nothing man made is good for you IMHO.

I just wanted to add -- to the kiddie pool idea-- in our breeding pens we use those plastic toboggan type of sleds, that have the shallow sides on them? --> at least for call ducks, it works perfect. Easy in and out for them, and easy for us to clean! :D But if you have the big ducks, those might be too small and the kiddie pool would work fabulous!
Oh, that made me think of those clear "under the bed" rubbermaid totes! They are fairly long and shallow.

I was curious if the duckies would have problems with that type of side and spill all the water out
Arsenic is an element. It can't be made. Arsenic compounds are another story.

I have a couple of those under bed things that don't fit under my beds if anyone wants them.

Meh, I'm not a math-y science-y person, just read that about 5 years back and thought it was interesting that arsenic was killing people, but then, keeping people alive...? IDK, look up the Hunza people, interesting to read, none the less.

I need ducks now. This one was TOO CUTE!

Here's my answer to the "sides collapsing" issue

Recipe for Longevity:

The longest lived people in the world are the Georgians of the Caucasus Mountains in Southern Russia, the Vilcabamba Indians of the Ecuadorean Andes and the people of the Hunza Valley in Kashmir. All three follow this recipe for longevity.

1. Exercise regularly and consistently

2. Don't use preservatives or artificial colorants

3. Eat a frugal diet, high in fibber, low in salt, fat and refined sugars and rarely fry in oil.

4. Drink water with a high mineral content, from a well or mountain streams.

5. Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

6. Never experience loneliness.

7. Practice holistic medicine, using traditional herbs and medicines to prevent and cure disease.

8. Enjoy regular sex, even up to the age of 100. :)

9. Live in extended families, which offer cradle to grave security

10. Seldom drink or smoke.

11. Live at high altitudes with little air pollution.

12. Respect their elders, who lead busy active lives into their 1oo's emphasize relationship bad harmony over the pursuit of wealth or success.

Does anyone here have a way to get ahold of Wa4-Hpoultrymom? She is not answering her PMs and I know she has not been on here in a long while. I would like to try and get some more eggs from her!

Before antibiotics, arsenic was used to treat syphilis. The trick was dosage. One needed enough to kill the bug, but not enough to kill the host.

Wood duck? Very pretty.

Hmmm, I like to cook over an open fire, roast my meat. When I'm camping. I don't want to hunt/fish/forage for my food. That entails lots of exercise, going hungry, being cold, hot and living in the elements.
I perfer having a dentist, Dr, clinic, hospital, resturants (heck even Micky D in a pinch), my car, my truck, tap water, flush toliets, hot showers, long soaking baths, shoes (that fit) ditto boots to work in. Warm home to sleep in, and a fan to turn on when it gets above 90deg.
My tv, my comput, my musical inst, etc, etc.
Over 2 BILLION people in the world and what, a hundred or so people live to be over a hundred?

Ahhhh, all the comforts of home. I am going for a combination!!

Chickaudie, me too. I like natural also. I cook with lard, it makes a very yummy pie crust. I steam my veggies, roast my meats (or pressure cook) stay away from sugar (most of the time),( must stay away from choc chip cookies, hmm make note to me)

Would love to have a large garden. Have the tools (Large Cadet Rot Till) Lawn Mower with a rake, etc. Have the motivation, but not the energy. I will make a decision soon, season is upon us.

Would love to grow my own corn, but it fatigues the soil way too much.
