I don't know how to dry it out otherwise And I don't want to give them too much BOSS because of the risk of crop impaction, so it's going to be wasted. If I had time I'd dry it all out pan by pan in the oven, but I don't have time for that.

I have a new addiction.
I confess.
I have dabbled for years with Bonsai without getting serious or reading up on much.
But
This year, I have so many big leaf maples, red laced maples and assorted other trees in small pots (a few hazel nuts & juniper) I am going to give it a serious try....like in my spare time !

Usually I "do" the trees, plant them nicely and then ignore them until they grow big again.
I have to train myself to keep after them I guess.
Anyone else here "do" Bonsai ??????????????

I'd skip the big leaf maple. Bonsai people usually start with things that have fairly small leaves to begin with.

Welcome!!! To all the other newbies too.... Mikeyb and I both live in Rochester, just a few min from oly.... We'll have to meetup sometime....

I am just so sad. I am losing my rooster "Arnold". He is just a year old and was fine a week ago. Now his color is really bad and he is really weak. One of the other roosters died in the fall. Usually it is the girls that have problems and the boys live for ever. And the girls are fine so far. So I am perplexed. I am taking him to Dr Bruce tomorrow to have a necropsy done to see if they find anything contagious or congenital or anything.

Wow, that's awful about your rooster, nothing worse then that helpless feeling, when an animal is sick and the reason is unknown :-( ((hugs))

I've dabbled in it now and then but have nothing but empty bonsai pots now. I brought them from CA in Sept. thinking I could get trees up here easier than down there. I should use them.
