Almost three years ago, a kid took the curve too fast, drove across the neighbor's driveway, through the fence, through my garden, and hit the porch. Insurance took care of my garden and porch (more or less), but the neighbor never did anything about the replacing the fence panel. I've asked, even offered to pay, but while he's never said no, he's never done anything either. I've planted shrubs that will EVENTUALLY screen that corner, but it's all sand and under a big leaf maple, so things take a long time to grow. I'm trying to figure out something really cheap (free would be even better) to screen that corner. I'm thinking twig fence or something. Any ideas?

Our new gals going after the fermented (drug-free) chick starter. It took them a couple of hours to switch. I'm going to remove the dry feed because they are ignoring it now.

It is covering a neighbors chain link fence that a car went through a few years ago. I used cable ties to attach it. It wasn't free but cheaper than other alternatives. i like the bark better than bamboo fences that you usually see. it comes in different heights, 3 to 6 or 7 feet.

bamboo is nice and in my experience does not get out of control in this area. I've had a clump of Bissetii (infamous for running) for years and it has yet to run, or at least to run past the twice yearly mowing the surrounding "lawn" gets. You might be able to get some free from a neighbor, or you can have a bit of ours if you're willing to come to Shelton for it.

Well this is what happens when I spend all day outside in pollen season(mold especially).
This is doubled up on Zyrtec too. And I have more to do out on the coop/run today. Ugh

Treats, treats, treats. And patience. They have to first learn to trust you. And they may never be lap chickens, but at least they will not be afraid of you

It is so much easier when you raise them from chicks. It isn't hard either Carolyn. It is fun. You could do it in your laundry room. I did it with a Rubbermaid container which we had and my artist easel to hang the light off and I bought a lamp from the hardware store and red light for about $25. Bingo. You have a brooder.

I'll keep you in mind. Later this month I get to dig up a friends yard for any and all plants.

If you are interested I have a semi weeping european birch tree in a pot, looking for a home.

I get lots of Holly around here. I usually just cut them down if they get annoying. Want me to save some?
And I usually get tons of raspberry starts every year. and a lot of my flowers need dividing.

Looks like the Honeysuckle and Akebia starts are doing fine so far.

Our $8 inCOOLbator is a success!

Both of my EE eggs were pipped this morning then one of them zipped- the window is now all fogged up (I am tempted to open it long enough to swipe with a paper towel, so having to restrain myself :

I've got one Silver leghorn egg pipped so far, but none of the Russian Orloffs, Welsummer, or Barnevelders have started. yI'm chuckling because DH is hanging out at the inCOOLbator, talking to the chicks- "C'mon little guy, you can do it!".

That is so cool! Love hubbies response. My hubby would be doing the same thing.
