Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

welcome to the group! You made it just in time to make it to the WA Feather fanciers show in Monroe next weekend!

Wow- cardboard box- that must have been super interesting (or not? LOL)

I suppose I don't have much room to talk......I've got an aquarium in my living room full of chicks for entertainment right now...and a brooder in my mud room...

HAHA! I love it! Where's the Overrun with Chicken's tag? Hey RainMom, why do you guys put rocks in the water dish?

Glad you got your money back and sorry you had to go through all that crap. I have to say, I adore my little 3" Craftsman saw. It makes small cuts super easy with one hand. DFH bought it for me when I was building a planter box, wish I could have brought it with me!

I just want to throw this out there for future thought. Once we find and buy the right place, I would like to breed Ameraucanas, not EE's, but true Ameraucanas. It will be a few months for us to find, buy and settle into a place but I just want this out there so that if you breed them you can keep me in mind.
Speaking of buying a place, I found a place that I will be going to look at here really soon. There are three houses on the property, which is great because my BIL and his DW live here with us (in their own apt.) and we were hoping to find a place where they a could come with us. There is also two barns a shop for DH and many out buildings that could be coops. Also (and this is a great part) the property is 29 acres in Duval. I am trying not to get to excited like I did with the last one but I do have my

. So we will see, and I will of course let ya'll know how it goes.

Fingers crossed with you FM!

ChickAudie - I got married on a boat...this one: http://www.adventurecat.com/
Boats can be SO fun!!! I think a 2-3 hour cruise would be super fun to do one day if you decide to stay in the city one night.

Oh!!! That looks like fun! What a gorgeous day and beautiful picture of you two!!

Oh, oh! I wanna camp!!! I drive past that place every morning thinking we should go. DFH is a Vet, and only had partial disability for his knees, so I don't think we would qualify for that. The USDA also has a program with up to 102% financing (0 down with help for closing costs) and a WHOPPING 1% interest rate. The "catch" is you have to move somewhere with less than 10,000 pop. but I don't see that being a catch....

They say it is low income, but if you look up their website, their income requierments are not low income IMHO.

Chick Audie, I have been following an online women's clothing boutique called eShakti for a year now; I've been taught once already (over a dress I wanted for Easter last year) that she who hesitates looses the perfect dress, so when exactly the right print came up I ordered it immediately. My daughter's getting married outside by the water the last weekend in July, so the matter of wearing something which will cover without cooking and not be ruined by sunblock was driving me crazy.

The shoes, though, oh lord the shoes: the wedding is at the bottom of a football field sized lawn with about a 20% slope: I don't want to be dependant on a car to get me up and down, and in normal life wouldn't take that on without hiking boots. Young people never consider these things!

Oh! What about some strappy sandals or wedges? Sounds like I sound check this place out!

Hey guys can anyone tell me what time Monroe is? is it Saturday and Sunday or just Saturday? I might stop by my daughter wants to look at the chickens.... I am just not sure I wanna go with all 4 kids in tow.

LOL. Thanks for pointing that out. I did miss it the first time.

That being said, I'm a vintage European and Jap bike fan. I have a 1971 Triumph T100 and a 1958 Austin Healey.

My new baby is adapting to her new flock well. She even went and pecked at one of the bigger chicks last night. Feisty Araucana named Matilda.

we put marbles or glass beads in the bottom of the water dish until the chicks stop doing silly baby chick things---- like falling asleep face-first in their water dishes, so they don't drown. They can still drink water from between the glas beads. You can use rocks, but ZGoatlady suggested shiny glass beads or marbles because they are easy to clean.

DH hasn't made a nipple waterer just for the babies yet- I've got to get him doing that right away.
He got hung up because we bought the nipples from Reber Ranch and forgot to notate what size drill bit to use for the push=-in kind with rubber seals........

He made a nipple waterer for the big chickens- made from pvc pipe attached to a 5 gallon bucket, and I am going to install that in the pens today...

This is good information to have. Obviously, I won't wear heels.

by the way, the income limits for these home buyer programs are not for "low income" only. For some of the down payment assistance, the income limits are different, but for getting the loans and buying the houses, it's generous:

income limits: (I think this is adjusted gross income)
