by the way, the income limits for these home buyer programs are not for "low income" only. For some of the down payment assistance, the income limits are different, but for getting the loans and buying the houses, it's generous:

income limits: (I think this is adjusted gross income)

Not sure if I am doing this right. I introduced myself in the new member section, but thought I should do the same here? My name is Keri. My husband and I have a smallish farm in the Spanaway/Graham area. We have had chickens before, but not for quite awhile. This is my first flock that I am going to raise from start to finish. I have 3 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Ameraucanas that just moved into their newly constructed hen house. I also have 4 Delawares, a Danish Brown Leghorn and an Australorp brooding in a large storage tote in my dining room. Tomorrow I will be picking up a few Anconas and maybe a couple more Ameraucanas.

I have been lurking on this site for quite a while, but joined today so that I could interact with other people who understand chickens, in case I have any questions.

Oh, and I would like to also add a Cochin or two to the flock, mainly for looks, but am having a hard time finding chicks locally. Any ideas?

Chickie Lady- just FYI- our aussie x lab "talked" in fact every morning he would come in our bedroom to "talk" to us and I swear it sounded like he was saying "gud morning". I think somewhere we even saved a recording of it. Our aussie x lab was hyper, OCD, chased anything that moved, including leaves, snowflakes, hail, ashes from campfires, fireworks, and more. He was adorable and lovable, but so hyper and OCD he was making us crazy.
Our Jack is not so much hyper as he just will not listen & always thinks everything is a game...he takes nothing seriously at all !
Frustrating & near impossible to train him...he is a bone head !

I am so sick of this rain...everyday the talking heads say 3 days of no rain which keeps getting moved to the next day like some sort of never getting here carrot held in front of the donkey...I am SO ready to plant some stuff in the hot frame & the garden...if it ever stops raining.

Until then I am bouncing off the walls & getting madder & madder.......................

Cannot do anything in the house until Einstein finishes a few more walls............................poop.

Should just go back to bed...............................

Ordering from a hatchery, or even getting some from someone else is not nearly as fun or as interesting or as challenging as trying to create it :)
True story...as an example, I just spent an entire year looking for breeders selling any R/C LBLs......................no could locate.
Found some, eggs, ordered, arrived smashed, ordered more, arrived half smashed & got 2 to hatch which turned out to be Bantam fowl.............crapola !!!!!!!!!!!!

So, 12 mo later I just ordered 10 from McMurray.......................they are in the brooder doing great.
They are necessary for the breeding project with the Crele Chantecler.
Sometimes ya just have to order from a hatchery.
