Who was interested in a Great Pyrenees? There are two Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever X dogs in Portland OR needing adoption.
Cuter than heck. I've never had a Great Pyr, but my beloved Gryffin was a Golden Retrieve and wonderful with our chickens.

Adoption fee in a little steep, but these boys are only 7 months old so could learn to fit in with a new household with good training.

Just finished ordering prints from the science experiment. Stress! It is due tomorrow. And we have Cub Scouts tonight. I'm hoping I can find another leader to take over for me. If not, my kid is staying up late tonight.

Travis - you had asked about the cracked eggs a while back... here's one...



I couldn't find the other pic (too many egg pics to go through). I don't know if we could have saved this one with wax or not. We cracked it open and looked at it.

And the sad little baby that never hatched...





I'm not exactly sure what went wrong, besides the fact that his egg wasn't turned. He was in the fetal position with his beak tucked into his belly. Never pipped internally. Didn't look shrink wrapped. Even though he incubated for nearly a week past his hatch date, there was still quite a bit of liquid in there. Could he have drowned when the other two hatched? He was slower to develop, and when the other two hatched humidity went way up. I was surprised how much liquid was in that egg with him.

Not sure if I am doing this right. I introduced myself in the new member section, but thought I should do the same here? My name is Keri. My husband and I have a smallish farm in the Spanaway/Graham area. We have had chickens before, but not for quite awhile. This is my first flock that I am going to raise from start to finish. I have 3 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Ameraucanas that just moved into their newly constructed hen house. I also have 4 Delawares, a Danish Brown Leghorn and an Australorp brooding in a large storage tote in my dining room. Tomorrow I will be picking up a few Anconas and maybe a couple more Ameraucanas.

I have been lurking on this site for quite a while, but joined today so that I could interact with other people who understand chickens, in case I have any questions.


Oh, and I would like to also add a Cochin or two to the flock, mainly for looks, but am having a hard time finding chicks locally. Any ideas?

Chick Audie, I have been following an online women's clothing boutique called eShakti for a year now; I've been taught once already (over a dress I wanted for Easter last year) that she who hesitates looses the perfect dress, so when exactly the right print came up I ordered it immediately. My daughter's getting married outside by the water the last weekend in July, so the matter of wearing something which will cover without cooking and not be ruined by sunblock was driving me crazy.


The shoes, though, oh lord the shoes: the wedding is at the bottom of a football field sized lawn with about a 20% slope: I don't want to be dependant on a car to get me up and down, and in normal life wouldn't take that on without hiking boots. Young people never consider these things!

This is good information to have. Obviously, I won't wear heels.

Yeah, not a place for heels, to say the least.

I think you've seen photos of the venue over the years, as it's a default for the IOOF side of the family; standard Puget Sound High Bank Waterfront, great view of The Mountain. It's well-maintained and free from loose rock, but steep until you're almost to the sea wall, where there's a flat place big enough for the ceremony (and there will be seating due to the whole "family full of old people" thing: Bailey's grandfather is over ninety, and my Aunts and Uncles are all in their eighties.

Every occasion is a good one for heels can ya tell I love to dress up?!
