Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Ok, I just found out there are quilters in BYC. That being said, I'm wondering how many of you in the WA thread are also quilters? I started sewing/quilting just over 2 years ago and LOVE it. I started a business sewing bags and knitting dish cloths.

Anyone interested in a quilt block swap?
I don't quilt but my mom does. We are honored every time she gifts us such a wonderful treasure! I don't have the patience for quilting. I do knit, however! I love making stuff for the kids! Right now this is what I'm knitting for my DD who is 4:

Quote: That is so sweet of you to say! Thank you, we work very hard every day at home to raise enjoyable children. It's not often people see the hard work.

I love knitting also. I saw the other dress you made and praise you for that. My mother tried sewing when I was little. She made me a mustard yellow dress (i was a dark brunette back then) that was an aweful color. A few years later she made me a pair of reversiable pants (one side was white with blue pokla dots, the other was blue with white mushrooms). I wore them to school once, got laughed at by all the kids, and never wore another home made peice of clothing.

I like to knit scarfs and dish cloths. I recently took up sewing socks. They are enjoyable too.

As for the kids....I praise both of you for raising small children in a home with many animals. The attitudes of children from these types of families always strikes me as more indepentant and self-assured.

That's all very precious of you to say! Thanks, we enjoy our children dearly and love every minute...even the really tough ones. We have...um...intense kids. Let's just put it that way. We spend MOST of every day counseling our children how to love God, love each other, and obey authority, rather than have their own sinful and foolish ways. It's a lot of work and is WELL worth it for the lovely big kids they're growing into.

That is such a cute pattern for the dress. Did you design it?

About this thread: I LOVE it here. I've never felt anything but love and support here. And a whole lot of enabling. I very much enjoy the different personalities here, and the fact that there's a lot to read. I hate slow threads. I'm like...c'mon, somebody just POST SOMETHING! when it's slow. NOT HERE! I'm going to be sorely put out and upset (I won't actually tell y'all when it happens but I know I'll cry about not living here and communing with my WA peeps anymore) if we move to MD. Their thread is slow.

Have you tried making gluten free cakes yet? My GF made some GF cupcakes for our wedding reception potluck in 2009. Everyone LOVED them. They actually disappeared before the regular wheat flour cake did.
I have made thousands of GF cakes and cupcakes, some from mixes, some not. I even had my own GF cookie mixes that were sold by an international company for awhile. We are GF, dairy free, corn and soy free. For more than 5 years I used no flours or starches at all- made muffins from pecan meal, almond meal, sunbutter, almond butter, coconut flour, etc, etc. Awesome stuff- terrible on the budget!

Agreed. TERRIBLE on the budget, but WELL worth the health benefits. We are also MOSTLY GF/DF/SF as a family and I can't believe how great we all feel and behave when we're faithful to our diet. Today we took the kids to Dairy Queen. Got ice cream and french fries. Then we all came home to have diarrhea for the afternoon/evening. Pleasant huh? I can tolerate some yummy raw milk, but whatever was in that crap from today wreaked havoc on our bodies!! I can't believe they call it food. Ugh.
