Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Very cute!! Did you get to see either of the parents? What were they?

Glad you found your new buddy....

The mom is a German shepherd. They said dad is an Australian shepherd. they showed me both but who knows if that was really the father ya know?
I figure australian shepherds get about 22-24 inches tall which is about the height i need, german shepherds get a little taller then that. So he should be a good sized dog when he's an adult.
I really don't believe that the dog they pointed out as the father (i believe it was their neighbors dog) was the father of this pup. He does look like he has aussie in him but to me he also looks like he has yellow lab. I've never seen a german shepherd or australian shepherd this yellow color. but will have to wait and see what he looks like as an adult.

Sounds like a good plan. We have a couple now for one for asparagus, the others had carrots and some onions last year but that may change this season. I need to build a few more makes the weeding a whole lot easier with DD soccer schedule, and all the other yard stuff that time of year. On the not all part of the garden, Have Tiller Will Travel!! I have a shop with never enough tools may be we can swap labor for company while building DaBeds that way it will make haulin easier.

I like the beds! I had the same problem with the strawberries, but with the little birds they they got through and under everything so I made a PVC frame and hung bird netting. I hate
Okay, so imagine making those beds, but ONE major improvement- use 2x2 poles from the bldg supply, and put them in 2 corners- for the beds you plan to grow UP- like peas, beans , cukes, etc. You can them put a "top" bar across the poles. I plan to do this once we've been here and have enough compost to put in beds, etc.

At our new place here, i am working feverishly to even get to the point of getting a garden ready- I've had my chickens in the garden all winter, moving them from place to place until they have tilled the soil up and gotten rid of weeds. I've got cardboard I tossed on the bare dirt to keep anything from growing till I planted it! Hubby needs a working rototiller- we have 2 that are broken down left on this property and hubby needs to get one running (in our spare? time?). I know we should have stuff planted already, but we can't plant where the chickens are still living, and the new chicken house is not ready yet- no nest boxes built, no flooring (looking on CL for free or cheap linoleum!). Got roosts. Might have to move temp chicken housing and pens one more time just so we can get a garden going....argh. Chickens certainly complicate things....

Carolyn- glad the pie tin is working better! Where are you locate again? I'm on my phone and can't tell; I have extra chick feeders if you want one for free.

Quote: Yep we can do together Rob, I have a Cub Cadet rototiller that works really, really well. Need to get it fired up, haven't started it in over a year but it has less then 10 hrs of use and the gas was drained before I put it away. So a new plug, some primer pulls, and fresh gas should do the trick I'm thinking.
As for the boxes, heck yeah. I have everything we need except the fence boards which I'll try and get today.

Hi there! I'm fairly new to BYC - from Snohomish WA. I am hoping to make it to the show in Monroe! Mostly to check things out, ask questions, and meet other locals :)

yes, everything I make is GF/CF/SF. MOST everything is corn free also, and many (most?) are made with honey, agave, stevia or coconut nectar. We don't even have sugar in our house- but we do eat sugar occassionally- in a pre-made cookies, cookie mix, etc.

Hmm.....maybe I could bring my almond flour chocolate chip cookies.....those are always a hit......
YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies the most. Oh yeah, and snickerdoodles. Oh, did I mention that even my in-law (who live in Poulsbo) are trying to help me stay gluten free? They have bought crackers for me and get things like Cheetos (no wheat) for snacks. I LOVE my in-laws.

Hello and welcome. Put your seatbelt on, pull your hat down tight and hang on. This place moves faster then a speeding bullet----------no wait, that's superman, anyway it's really, really fast.
Gals and Guys here are warm, helpful and full of knowledge. If they can't answer your Q's they can direct you to where you can find the answer.

My phone is too pesky to quote..

Robj, my little frog poker will be 3 next month, also have a big one who just turned 7 :)

Carolyn, that is Fish Lake in Spokane county. Many a summer days are spent there!

Rainmom, (think I got that right) I love your solution to keeping birds out of berries..I pinned it to my Pinterest!

Definitely a keeper. Yep, a keeper for sure. He sure is cute. He obviously feels very, very safe.

yeah when they handed him to me so i could decide if i wanted him or not he clung to me and wouldn't let go. It's so funny the chickens keep running away from him when he goes up to the fence then they slowly move closer. It's like they think he's a cat.
