Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK for those wondering about putting chicks under a hen. The 2 little Silkies I got from Kim (what was I thinking) are not ready to be totally off the light yet. I put a light in but it is high so it barely gets warm on the floor. But not to worry see I put Silkiebator in with them. I just did a final check and she has them pushed back in a corner and is trying to cover them.

Not saying this will work for others but it just shows it can work.

And just because the Sweet-n-Sour Roadkill seems so popular. Against my (lack of) better judgement. I am going to let the secret out. Now I suppose I will have to figure out something new for future gatherings!

Corned beef and cabbage dinner turned out great. No leftovers though.
I even made Irish Soda bread (a recipe from Ireland) and it even turned out quite well). This was a first, but really it's a base bisquit dough with no shortening. Very tasty served warm with lots of butter.

Nite all, I'm a tired puppy.

Glad to hear yer doin good Mike. Good night

So need to know what ya'll use in your pens to stop the digging!!! I have digger chickens, and im tired of filling in holes. Sand? Gravel? I'd love to hear pros and cons of both.

It's in their nature. I put sand in their pen and I fill in holes as needed. If the holes are along the edge of fences you could put bricks or pavers.

I am so tickled. I just got 12 silkie/silkie sizzle chicks and 3 cream legbar chicks(2f-1m). The silkies are 2 weeks old and the legbar is 2 days. I have met some nice people down here in the Sacramento area that breed some nice birds. It is going to be fun with 3 cats and 15 chicks on a 14 hr drive home this week. I will post pics soon. Have to let them settle in. I am doing the happy chicken dance. Hubby even went with me today and tolerated all my fun.

Ohhhhh...... I can just see you doing the happy dance! You lucky lady! Congrats!

I got a variety of her silkies for a breeding plan up here. Sheri was so nice and went out of her way to make my experience wonderful. I was only going to get 5 or 6 but I left with 12 and a scowl on hubbies face. I would have gotten more if he hadn't come in and said enough! The sizzle ones are so cute. Like a bad hair day. Her birds where beautiful. She had a black sizzle roo that was absolutely stunning! I was like a kid in a candy store and a pocket full of money.

Then we went and got some cream legbar chicks from Miss Molly in Auburn, CA. She has every exotic rare one you could imagine. NICE birds and very clean and organized. I was very impressed. She was a joy to talk to and I would highly recommend her.
