There are not enough emoticons to express what I am feeling right now! My realtor called and said Congrats!!!!!!! They are just finishing up a few things. This house is turn key move in ready and CLEAN, CLEAN.
Oh My Gosh, I am shaking. This will close in 30 days.......
I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two day's worth of eggs. From the top, clockwise: Hamburg pullet, two Hamburg hens, three EEs (Tertia, Ginger, and Quinta, in that order), two BLRW; in the center are the Australorp and the first egg from my Barbu d'Anvers.

This is by way of cheering me up; my favorite of the Hamburgs (blue-eared Suzzie) took ill yesterday and is bedded down in fleece in the dog kennel with water and yoghurt; I'm going to make her some oatmeal but I fear she's egg-bound and other than syringing her cloaca with warm oil and testing her belly (which does not have any apparent hard obstructions) I've got no recourse but to wait and keep her warm and feed her goodies.

Stupid reality. And extra stupid in that I'm messing around with this stuff in the sleet.

Question on chickens: If egg bound what treatment do you use? The few times I have encountered egg binding was with a finch. I was told to wrap it in a towel and hang its hind end over boiling water. High enough you don't hurt the bird but close enough that the seam affected the vent. That and Vaseline in the vent area. It actually worked.

Nice bunch of banana's you got there.

As far as a get together at our new house, the house closes is 30 days and then I would probably need about a month to get the house put together. Then Chicken people welcome!

No pressure. We a playing with you. Get settled and share with us what your up to. We are overjoyed for you. Most of us wish we could do it. Just consider us your green friends, very envious.

More awesomeness!! Congrats Jess! I hate moving!

Seriously guys...BEST day ever! 11/12 laid today!!!
They are so beautiful!
My 9 year old has chicken fever... She has been talking to her dad since we got home from the show on what kind of chickens she wants and what colors she wants... She is in love with the Orpingtons. She loved that big black Roo and the Splash. She also wants some silkies just because they are "cute and fluffy"! I think I created a monster.

I dunno but I think I am in for it... She is already making plans for a Silkie coop!. Right now we have a 4x6 shed that has a chicken door and attached to that we have a 6x6x4 chain link kennel thats fully covered. ( they dont use it they free range the whole backyard) We also have a small coop/bunny hutch that the girls use as their nesting boxes. Well this summer we are planning on moving the shed and making a large 44 ft x 15 ft run. So Natalies idea is to take the little coop and put it in the 6x6x4 chain link kennel and then she has a place to keep her silkies.... as she told me her well thought out plans... I just looked at her and smiled.... shes like so mom can I do it??? LOL
