Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: I was interested in the Irish, but we got this as a surprise "FAST" rescue. She is really pretty good with the animals - goats, duck and chickens. In fact, she is great as an alarm dog for hawks and crows. She hates it when they come down into "HER" chicken yard. Yeah, a lot of coat, and since she's spayed, not showable so no point in hand stripping.

How old is your boy?

Hey Howdy Turtle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great to meet you at the show !!!!!!!!!

I'll be there too :)!! I had to miss Monroe:-( due to softball stuff

Hey, if in the long-off-future you have Dorking trios to sell, please let me know- I think they're cool.

I'm looking at small/medium traditional terriers for several reasons, but rodent control is high on the list;
I'm getting a half dozen silver gray Dorkings in about 3 weeks! There's a breeder in Tacoma. . .

The terriers; some can be trained to be good with birds, if not totally trustworthy. They are after all, Terriers, Mine is a treasure for chasing off predators. She doesn't bother the birds much! I think it's more playing - she puts her nose on them to make them jump.

CL:

really gorgeous birds there! We have to get together. Seeing Doc on Monday, hoping he will let me get rid of the neck brace then I can drive again. When you coming to TJ's again?

Yeah I'm pretty sure when Nigel killed the chicken he was trying to play because it wasn't shredded but still...

I strip him even when not showing due to keeping the weather resistance of that wire coat so even after he is retired from the show ring it will just happen less, he kind of enjoys it except for the sensitive areas. He is 3 1/2 years old, so plenty of life left.

Hoping my next Terrier will be more bird safe but I will actually have birds next time to train them with, Nigel didn't see his first one til he was over a year. Then again, Terriers job is to kill varmints, and I suppose chickens just looked like feathered (and possibly tasty) varmints. Would rather have to deal with unsafe for chickens than give up the spirit of a Terrier. I'm just happy they share their world with us! LOL
