Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Man oh Man! Awesome. Now I am thinking chicken coop done in them. Those are spectacular and beautiful.
Yeah my daughter watched a whole show about it on NG. This one guy built a whole house out of tires that he got free at the dump, another guy glass bottles. And my daughter being the girl she is got on the computer n started looking it up. I guess its becoming more and more popular for solar heating n what not for poor countries and its catching on here due to the way the economy is and what not. Its a fun idea and you can make them for pennies on the dollar. And its good for the environment. Very cool

Is that the guy that started the development where all the homes are salvaged and solar in someplace like New Mexico? Yeah, here is his website. Earth Ships he called them.

KMoran, howdy neighbor! Would you be the person in Arlington I have been talking to about the Blue Orpingtons?

No, not Eliz. I know her well. She's gotten birds from me before and helped shear my llamas one year. I talked with someone recently that had Blue Orps but they were feedstore/hatchery birds and I'm looking for some SQ Breeder birds.

God Bless,

I do not know what else she has, but I know she has rosecomb ancona's because i bought hatching eggs from her at the monroe show

day 13 on them and I thing 16 out of 17 are looking very good.

also have the first 30 turkey eggs in the incubator.

Quote: Nope, I put a chunk of sod in my brooder with chicks.
Got my incubator today. The HovaBator 1588. I've got a bunch of eggs coming from CA. Hope they make the trip well. Then we sit for a day, right? Then into the bator. Any first time warnings? You know, the OH MY GOODNESS, DON'T DO THIS.
Run it for a few days and do baseline tests on humidity and temp(sometimes they are off)
Quote: Omnivores. They love meat. The only thing I would not feed them is chocolate
Quote: Onions and garlic are very beneficial to birds and all animals for that sake. If you feed a lot, it can pass to the eggs.
Quote: These are what I use. I have no issue with them being to tight. Make sure you get the right size for your breed. I don't put them on until around 14 weeks.
Stumpfarmer, It's not foolproof but they do seem to sense what's ok and not ok. Can't ever recommend that in my position, as there's no scientific proof they have any way of detecting that. But personally I think if they're dumb enough to eat something poisonous I didn't want those genetics in my flock anyway.

Edit: That'd be a fun topic, what is the dumbest thing you've ever had a chicken do? Regardless of surviving it or not. Mine is I once had a full grown adult OEGB drown itself in a baby chick waterer...he was in a 2'x4' conditioning cage before a show, put him in there one night, next morning he was face down in maybe 1/2" of water...
There is actually a thread on here about the dumbest things chickens eat. One was a screw.
