Could it be... an Easter gift from Latte (our fudgelet)? There was a tiny peach egg in the nest box. I don't know for sure that it came from Latte, but as small as it is, it makes me wonder.

No, the easter bunny left it for your chickens. Put it back. It is light chocolate egg for them.

One raised bed completed. This one will have strawberries and herbs. I'll get the berries in tomorrow and mulched. Dang chickens have been eyeing it already.

I let the quarantine birds out yesterday. The older pullet joined the flock and followed them into their coop and was on the roost. I'm not sure if anyone noticed. She's been begging to join for weeks.

Now, if I can get dressed, do a quick lap of the back yard, get to church, get home and put the coleslaw together and animals tended, get to the egg hunt and Easter Dinner at my sister's, come home in time to tether the sheep out for a while, finish the chores (the hens have been laying in the afternoon, mostly)...


Oh, yeah, I need to check the cow who looked last night as if she was starting labor.

With my family gone, Easter is just another day.

I hear ya. See Dad died the day before Easter and 5 years later Mom died the day after Easter.

Mom died the day after Mother's day.

I called my son. He's not working today, so I will get together with him and his wife. He cooks so he often works holidays.

My mom died the day after Christmas; Dad died on June 21, as he was trying to fix the knotter on the square baler.

I'd hurt somebody to be able to make a coop out of an old trailer!

There was a person who was posting pretty regularly on the yakima craigslist looking to purchase an old trailer for 200 bucks. He wanted to turn it into a chicken coop. Maybe look there? or post there and see if he responds?

Also - I'd google. I'll betcha someone has done this before - In fact now that I think about it I've see something similar here on BYC.

If I was looking for a trailer, to turn into a coop - I'd drive around and see if I could spot on that looked abandoned. Maybe the owner would let me take it off their hands for free/cheap. Wife says no to a trailer - at least on this current property.
