Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

there is a spray for glasses that will stop them from fogging up. I used it when I worked in a freezer for a packing company.
Oh cool, remember what it is called ?

I also have a finish on my specs that darkens in the sunlight, so I am leary as to putting any chemicals on my specs......with my luck it would smear all the photo gray off.

They absolutely love pimento stuffed green olives...especially after soaking in a nice dry Vodka Martini....

I am not so big on the olives, but I have been known to soak in a dry vodka martini. infact it is usually enough for me to just look at the bottle of vermouth, I don't actually need to pour any of it.

Hatch update! 21 out of 27 eggs have hatched. I moved the chicks from the bator into a brooder and left the 6 other eggs. I an not sure if they will hatch but its day 23 so you never know but they dont show any signs of it... Which brings me to my question... how long should I wait to see if they hatch? and how do you clean the bator after? I was thinking dawn dish soap then spray lightly with a bleach water solution and air drying? But I wasnt sure...
Great first hatch !
By day 23 you probably will not have anymore, but you can wet a paper towel, grab an egg, wrap it up & then candle it to see if there is any movement, hold it to your ear & listen for any heart beat...
As for the cleaning, see what your incubator manufacturer recommends....but I think a dilution of dish washer detergent would work...then air dry.
If you had an eggSPLOSION, then go with the solution, spray on, wipe off, air dry.
There is a lot of nasty bacteria in an eggSPLOSION !!

My Mother dips in a finger, and then flicks it in the glass of ice, then pour the V, then a peel of lemon, squeeze the rind on the ice & then rub the rim of the glass.
She used to feed my birds olives & get them so drunk ! (when I was a kid)

Ok, here's a newcomer question for sure: Is there any way to keep a cockerel from crowing? Any procedures or medications or whatever?? I want the girls to have a "fella" and I really want to keep one but if he crows, he cannot stay. ?????
Thanks.

Mikey~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wednesday is your babies' lockdown. They are BBS Jersey Giants.

I also have a handful of Cuckoo Marans and a few OEs in there also................we may have more than the birds you asked for, so there may be some available if anyone is interested.

OK, back to work............ugh !
And what to do for dinner ?
I aked DH to get a chicken out of the freezer this morning, of course he forgot, so I aksed for something thinner & faster to thaw, like pork chops ?
He forgot that too, but he just remembered & brought me a flank steak.................egads, what to do with a frozen flank steak ?

OK thanks... I will check for heart beat tonight and go from there. No eggsplosions but it is kinda stinky n very messy from the chicks hatching. I just wanted to make sure I cleaned it right for the next go around

Two things
1) You can find a vet who will remove his vocal cords, and this is expensive ! or

2) You can caponize him, in which case he will still be large, but will not be so protective and will not crow, and he would then be sterile and not mount the hens.
