A scratch on her beak ?

Beaks are kinda like fingernails....they usually are not harmed by a scratch..............

It's in the soft area at the top of her beak. I was sitting here typing one handed while holding her so I didn't go into enough detail. I put her back with her sister and observed for a while. There doesn't seem to be any interest in the red spot so I'll just let it be and keep watching.

Those darn little buggers managed to get out of their pen and into the hens pen. The one that got the owie was a bit frantic when we found out and I think she probably nicked it on the half-inch wire. I'm stumped where they managed to find an opening to get out of their area and into the other one. But I put up a couple barriers where they might have found a place to squeeze thru. It's a double fence with space in between -- I thought I dun good -- obviously not good enough!

Our worms are all up on the surface, crawling up on anything they can (Gary found some in the rain gutters) cuz they is drownin' in all this rain !

You can harvest them for the worm bins!

I love doing that with a toothpick.

My dad had to give up his beloved liver & onions.
One of my egg buyer's DH has gout & had to give up wheat, all meats & now he just eats beans....she even makes bread from bean flour.
GROSS !!!!!!!!!!!

gabanzo bean flour makes a very aromatic flat bread.

I also have a finish on my specs that darkens in the sunlight, so I am leary as to putting any chemicals on my specs......with my luck it would smear all the photo gray off.

Sometimes just good ole spit works. Divers sometimes spit on their face mask to reduce fogging.

You might want to put some marbles in that water tray. They fall asleep so quickly at that age they sometimes fall asleep with their face in the water and drown. After getting them this far you wouldn't want that to happen.

The kids will be excited when they get home from school they havent seen them out of the bator yet.... I got 8 out 10 BBS Jerseys from you, 8 out of 13 Black Sex Links from VF and 5 out of 12 Barbanters from Hallerlake... With 4 barbanters and 2 Black Sexlinks in the bator still. So I am please with that. I will try and get a pic of just the BBS later on tonight. If I can pick the right ones out... I am having a hard time telling the difference between the female black sex links and the Black Jerseys....

Oh they are peeping away ... I have the 21 here then in my office I have 10 pullets my husband got free from Coastal and 3 turkeys.... So if anyone wants some chicks please let me know lol...

Hatch update! 21 out of 27 eggs have hatched. I moved the chicks from the bator into a brooder and left the 6 other eggs. I an not sure if they will hatch but its day 23 so you never know but they dont show any signs of it... Which brings me to my question... how long should I wait to see if they hatch? and how do you clean the bator after? I was thinking dawn dish soap then spray lightly with a bleach water solution and air drying? But I wasnt sure...

How did the brabanters do?
