When have we not played nice?
I think that to truly "come together" we need to learn more about each other and how we are both the same and yet different.
Then again - some times folks think that "come together" means - "learn to think my way".
I think that when you posted that you were taking offense to the heathen comment from FWJ, I think, they thought it would get ugly. I am pretty sure you didn't really take offense though. Right?![]()

Same offer for you Mike. come on help a pal stay out of hatching trouble.
New here to this thread...but not new to WA. I grew up here, spent 15 years in SD and have been back again for 5 years. I have a small flock of mixed layers and have Silkies and Barnevelders in the incubator.Once they are grown up my mixed flock will go and I will keep those two breeds. I have two coops so I can keep two flocks seperated. I've owned Silkies for a few years but lost all my originals to a predator January 1st.![]()

I also have a horse and a pony and a couple of goats that I milk every day. Oh, and barn cats, of course.![]()
Anway, nice to "meet" other WA chicken people!
Hear hear! I couldn't agree more. While I am open to others opinions, that doesn't always mean this forum is the best location. Perhaps PM is a better choice?Ah, come on you guys, this forum is meant for pleasant exchanges primarily about chickens and family; please don't get hung up on some off hand use of a couple words that had no offense intended. Life is just too short for this kind of disturbance. We can all "play nice" now, can't we?!
If you have a Mormon church (Latter Day Saints) nearby, they generally have young men doing their "missionary" service who go around the neighborhoods offering their help. My mom had them help with chores after my father passed. I wouldn't be surprised if they would volunteer to help you.
Has anyone here ever had any experience with them?
Well, I AM a Mormon (a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), so maybe I can help. We do have young men, young women, and retired couples who go out to serve full time missions, and part of their commitment is to provide service to people and organizations that need help. Bear in mind they have many other commitments, too, so they probably couldn't build your whole coop, but they might be able to offer a helping hand. It's worth asking. A mom with a husband in the military definitely needs a helping hand. Do please note that our young men missionaries cannot be in a house with just women, nor can our young lady missionaries be in a home with just men. It's a precautionary thing, you understand.

CRI am amazed at how many people don't know that eggs come in more than just brown or white.
